Last Friday at adventure camp, we spent some time learning about different canning and preservation methods. Of course, then we had to make our own “very berrry freezer jam”! The kids couldn’t have been more excited and engaged 😋🍓 someone, pass the toast!
April is the month of the military child! Being at a school on base, I took the chance to help the students explore how they are like a dandelion (the official flower of military children) in this social studies lesson. 💜🌼
Kindergarten rocked their first Venn Diagram! Today we used our knowledge about mammals to help us learn about birds! Then each student was given an animal and had to decide: mammal or bird? (Students stretched the word worm for me, hence “werm”)
When ideas come to life 😍🙌🏼 At breakfast with Santa this year, visitors were asked to engineer parachutes to help Santa deliver presents down chimneys. So many great parachutes were designed and a handful of kiddos made them in the chimney below!
Biotic component foldable for a second grade science unit. I had fun choosing what to include/draw on my tiles. I think that student choice will be important for students as well! #ownyourlearning
BEST TOWER EVER!! 🗼 Magnatiles are the bomb and so are these three. I had to put the top layers on once it got too tall and you can bet I was so nervous that I was going to knock it down 😱
My little gal, Tallulah, showing off for a group of kiddos as she eats some raspberries from my lunch 😆 This ornate box turtle and her other friends and still recuperating from all of their programs as we celebrated Kansas Day!
My CHAMPS posters! What a great classroom management strategy. My hope is that in my future classroom I will be able to mark the box next to the behaviors making these posters perfect to use for all classroom activities and transitions!
This S’more is a easy handout for my classmates in literacy methods. In my mini lesson over the strategy, “quilts” from “50 Literacy Strategies” by Gail E. Tompkins, we made a class quilt over “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”: our current class read. https://t.co/IlEDj5byfz
On our day off from school we spent the day exploring “interesting art” at adventure camp! We read “The Dot” by Peter H Reynolds which was great to remind the students of having a growth mindset as they worked on their projects. Thanks to @cassiestephens for the lesson!
💭Senior year is in full swing! This quote just inside of Hale has always resonated with me since starting school at Kansas State. Now that I’m so close to getting my degree in education I can’t help but reflect on it a little more... (and hope that it is undamaged 🔥) 💭
