A group of WCPS students attended the Gifted Education Month Proclamation Signing in Frankfort yesterday. Aiden Moran was the representative from Oakland. Thank you Aiden for representing our school and district.
Our Leading Ladies recently completed a community service project to benefit the residents of Magnolia Village. Students interacted with the residents today through various activities such as playing games, painting nails, and coloring.
Oakland had an outstanding day at District Governor’s Cup! Aria Moyers earned 3rd in Language Arts, Zoey Milam claimed 1st in Arts & Humanities, and our Quick Recall Team finished 2nd in the district! They advance to regionals in a few weeks. We are so proud of our Cardinals!
Ms Stacy Vincent's 1st graders practiced 3 digit addition and reading cvc words in math today. Each letter had a value and students had to add it together. ❤️
Thursday night we had our Title 1 - Leader in Me night. Thank you to all the staff who volunteered, students who led activities, and family who came out to make it a great night! ❤️
Today was our first day of Donuts with drivers! Students had breakfast with Mr Wilson (red bus) and Ms Wheeler (orange bus). We have the best bus drivers and appreciate all they do for our Cardinals!
Students met their September reading goal of 30,000 minutes! We celebrated with mustaches to prepare for our yearly goals of 300,000 minutes! Mr. Stice will shave his mustache/beard when they reach their goal!!!
OES thanks Tara Whitaker from Clark Beverage Company for spending the morning with Mrs. Brooke Vincent’s 3rd Grade Class teaching Junior Achievement, a program that builds student skills in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.
Our first Sharpen the Saw Club day was a hit! Students joined clubs like art, sewing, photography, chess, science, and more, and will continue working with their groups this semester.
Today, Ms. Davis and Ms. Allen's classes constructed a system utilizing materials to create a solar-powered fan. They had to collaborate to troubleshoot. Excellent work, 4th graders!
