Tuesday night the OFD Post 467 had their monthly drill night with Ladder 41 .
Members of L-41 went over rope rescue methods. Using a "Z' rig used on a stokes basket, they were taught packaging a patient in the stokes with webbing and hauling methods.
Yesterday evening members of the OFD VC practiced doing a courtyard stretch to reach a deep seated fire that traditional lengths of hose wouldn't be able to reach otherwise. Members stretched 150' of 3 inch gated to 2 1 3/4" lines where they were then able to advance on the fire.
Tonight the Venturing Crew training topic was firefighter survival skills. These young firefighters learned how to perform the Ladder Bailout technique to exit a comprised room by existing a window and using a set up ground ladder. #OVC#OFD
Tonight the OVC hit the training yard along side the OFD. We trained with extrication. After we practiced we got to watch as the OFD practiced their skills of live car fires

Tonight the Ossining Venturing Crew along with Ossining Fire Department packed 250 food baskets at the Acme supermarket. The baskets are then delivered tomorrow morning to the needy families in the Ossining area.

With 29 members, the OVC and the Briarcliff Explorers got some real life experience in a training house, thanks to the Millwood Fire Dept. Members conducted search and rescue with obstacles such as wall breaches and reduced profiling while in smoked out conditions. #OVC
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Deputy Chief Donald “Dinky” Apostolico. Dinky was a 63 year life active member of our department. Joining Ossining Hose Company No. 1 in 1956, Dinky rose through the ranks of Assistant Forman to Foreman, held many positions..
The OVC met at L-41 for their meeting/training tonight with an addition of 8 new members... tonight we pushed the kids respectfully out of their comfort zone learning the roots of fire fighter survival skills and utilizing the OFD wall breech prop. A job well done!
Today, some of the Ossining Venturing Crew spent the day at the FDNY Explorer Day. They participated in fire department relay’s and learned some EMS skills. Our friendship with the FDNY explorers has grown tremendously and we look forward to keeping this friendship alive! 🚒
The OVC had another amazing training last night the crew practiced hose line ops using a draft from Tanker 10 of Croton Fire Dept. We had 12 new faces who have shown interest in what our dept. does. We look forward to working with them and bringing them into our fire dept. family
Donning drills brought us right into a mask confidence maze. The OVC met on August 27th. Members practiced putting gear on in under 2 minutes then going on air and becoming comfortable with a mask on. Training starts from the basics and works it’s way through the toughest jobs.
This weekend Ossining venturing crew participated in the 18th annual Putnam county explorer weekend. Where they took home first place- Bucket brigade, first place- midnight alarm, first place- baby climb, and finally second place- firefighter relay.
The OFD Venturing Crew met at AMD tonight for their training. The crew did an amazing job on the hydrant and hose line operations. They practiced opening a hydrant, learned the color coding system of our hydrants as well as hitting a target with the trash line off Monitor Hose.
