It’s very encouraging that funders support projects like YCharOS, which does not address hypotheses, but rather does the foundational, but not sexy, work of testing and characterizing reagent antibodies in order to make everyone else’s science more robust and reproducible.
Non-animal derived antibodies and affinity reagents are part of the solution. We are working to accelerate their uptake as alternatives to traditional antibodies that are more reproducible and replace animal use.

We are working with the OGA to raise awareness of the importance of improving reproducibility of research involving antibodies, for better science that is more efficient, reliable and reduces or replaces the use of animals.

Fantastic to see our work with the @OGA_Community
highlighted in this article. Poor antibodies waste research funding and time, delay scientific progress and drug development, and lead to unnecessary animal use where in vivo experiments or animal-derived products are involved.
Fantastic to see this Nature feature article promoting our work with @OGA_Community and @YCharOS1.
We aim to promote a change in biomedical research culture and #openscience practices with a specific focus on antibody validation.

@MerryLabNotts @NabaLabUIC @_hubmap@Matrisome Thanks for the suggestion. Our team is linking into the regular affinity reagent vaildation meeting run by the OMAP team, so lets see how things go!
Excited to share our @eLife review about the ongoing “antibody characterization crisis”
and potential solutions. Nice effort by @Harvin_Der_Virk, @CarlLaflamme4, Jim
