sitting down onto her seat, she puts a pancake on her plate— the heart shaped on that he claimed was hers. “ i don't have any butter or anything but there's syrup if you want some. ”
ㅤ
ㅤ
“ they will be. have some faith, ” she smiles at him, taking the plates over to the table and preparing things. “ have i ever let you down beforeׅ𖤠 ” she asks, rhetorically, raising a brow and waving him over.
ㅤ
ㅤ
“ oh, reallyׅ𖤠 ” she hums, smiling just a bit over at him. gosh, he's cheesy, but he sure is charming. turning away, she gets out some plates and silverware to have ready for when the food is done.
ㅤ
ㅤ
eyeing the pancake for a moment, she looks up at him, finding it actually pretty sweet of him.
“ real cute, ” she says, her tone somewhat flat even though she actually does think so.
ㅤ
ㅤ
smiling a bit more at his evasiveness, she can't help but wonder what she'd caught him thinking about. she wouldn't press the subject, though. not this time, at least.
instead, she critiques his pancake skills. “ not bad, but ... not great either, ” she teases.
ㅤ
ㅤ
as she looks back over, she catches a glimpse of his smile, and it brings hints of a smile to her face as well. it was nice to see, especially after they've had such hard times.
“ what're you cheesing so much about over thereׅ𖤠 ” she teases curiously.
ㅤ
ㅤ
a satisfied hum, she averts her gaze, her eyes wandering over to the windows, where the shut curtains let in a reddish glow. she hums quietly to the music a bit.
ㅤ
ㅤ
“ hmm, I guess I did .. ” she says in a dramatically sweet tone. “ i guess that just means you'll have to make it again for me sometime. to jog my memory. ”
smiling a bit, she turns to face him, leaning back on the edge of the counter.
ㅤ
ㅤ
“ sure. you could put a couple pancakes down on the griddle if you'd like. just know that the thicker they are, the more attention you'll have to pay to them so that the middle cooks through. ”
offering him the batter and spoon. “ just don't do anything stupid. ”
