“🇬🇱 We have been a close and loyal friend of the United States for generations. We have stood shoulder to shoulder in difficult times. We have taken responsibility for security in the North Atlantic — and not least for North America. That is what true friends do.

Precisely for that reason, the current and repeated rhetoric coming from the United States is entirely unacceptable.

When the President of the United States speaks of “needing Greenland” and links us to Venezuela and military intervention, it is not only wrong. It is disrespectful.

Our country is not an object in great-power rhetoric. We are a people. A country. A democracy. That must be respected — especially by close and loyal friends.

We are part of NATO, and we are fully aware of our country’s strategic location. We also understand that our security depends on good friends and strong alliances. In that context, a respectful and loyal relationship with the United States is very important. That has been the case for decades.

But alliances are built on trust. And trust requires respect.

Threats, pressure, and talk of annexation have no place between friends. That is not how one speaks to a people who have repeatedly demonstrated responsibility, stability, and loyalty.

Enough is enough.

No more pressure.
No more insinuations.
No more fantasies of annexation.

We are open to dialogue. We are open to conversations. But they must take place through the proper channels and in full respect of international law. And the proper channels are not random and disrespectful posts on social media.

Greenland is our home and our territory.
And it will remain so. 🇬🇱”

When a few Canada Post employees in Vancouver started answering letters to Santa in the early-1970s, it eventually led to the most famous postal code in Canada.
H0H 0H0.
Each year, thousands of letters to Santa from around the world are answered.
This is the story.

Everything started back in 1973 when a few Canada Post employees in Vancouver began to answer the letters that were sent to Santa. These letters went to Canada Post's undeliverable mail office headquarters.
That year, 4000 letters were received.

There was nowhere for the letters to go, so the employees decided to reply to the children themselves.
Typically the letters were simply addressed to “Santa Claus, North Pole”. This small volunteer effort soon began to spread among Canada Post employees.

In 1982, it became a nationwide project through Canada Post with the creation of the postal code H0H 0H0. Postmaster Roy Debolt stated the idea was to make Christmas a little warmer and more complete for children who wrote to Santa Claus.

The first volunteers were mostly retirees from Canada Post. From here, the program only continued to grow.
Between 1982 and 2006, thousands of postage workers, both current and retired, volunteered their time to answer 14 million letters from children to Santa.

Between 2006 and 2010, 4.5 million letters were received by Canada Post volunteers, all addressed to Santa Claus.
Letters come from across the world now, some addressed to H0H 0H0 and some just to "Santa Claus, North Pole".

Letters arrive in many different languages from around the world, and they are answered in the language they are written in, including braille.
Today, over 25 million letters have been received since 1982 and answered by volunteers.

This week, the German intelligence community spoke remarkably openly about the threat posed by Russia.

Here are the 10 most important findings from the German foreign intelligence service, domestic intelligence service, and military counterintelligence service:

1. Russia's goals are to undermine NATO and destabilize European democracies. Russia will not shy away from military confrontation with NATO.

2. Russia is attempting to manipulate elections in Germany. Russia is relying on propaganda and disinformation, provocation, intimidation, sabotage, contract killings, espionage, and airspace violations.

3. The intelligence services must be allowed to become more operational and take greater risks. This urgently requires changes to the legal framework.

4. Russia is acting aggressively, offensively, and increasingly escalating in Germany. Russia is the main instigator of the preparation and implementation of sabotage operations in Germany.

5. Russia is exploiting “scenes of discontent,” e.g., the “Reichsbürger” movement, to spread its narrative and exert influence. The goal is to divide European societies.

6. German intelligence services must become defense services that not only observe threats but also counter them.

7. Russia is now highly active in infiltrating the German armed forces and undermining the stability of NATO.

8. Russia threatens our security. Germany must prepare for a long-term confrontation and finally strengthen its defense capabilities.

9. Russia's ongoing cognitive warfare against Germany requires action in the here and now instead of waiting for a formal state of open conflict.

10. Germany must move from reactive observation of Russia to an initiative-taking, defensive, and nationwide defense strategy.
