Today is a sad day for Ohio. The Governor vetoed 67 policies in the budget, including 4 Property Tax Reform measures that would have made a real difference for our tapped out property owners- these were the strongest efforts the Legislature has approved since the crisis. I believe the Legislature is fully on the side of taxpayers and will override the Governor's vetoes of these desperately needed reforms. It makes 0 sense to veto efforts to respond directly to the pleas of our taxpayers, we will get you the help needed.
This budget delivers long-overdue reforms for homeowners and represents the most significant pro-taxpayer property tax legislation in nearly the last 50 years, delivering fundamental structural changes to make the system better.

Tom Zaino on House Bill 186: 1) Eliminates unvoted inflationary increases in real property taxes. 2) Will not take away current tax revenues from Ohio schools. 3) Ohio schools generally have healthy cash reserves right now, so it's a good time to fix the system.
Great job by @DavidThomasOH explaining the goal of HB 186, a moderate proposal to simply ensure that Ohio property owners aren't hit with unvoted property tax increases above the rate of inflation.
