The long awaited #hydrogen#delegatedact|s have finally been adopted, shaping the future of the EU #H2 economy. Considering the attention they have gained, and some inaccurate info I see floating around, I put together a brief visual overview of the (in)famous #additionality DA:
Neue Studie: #Wärmepumpen sind so gefragt wie nie. Was braucht es jetzt, um im Häuserbestand & Mehrfamilienhäusern den Hochlauf von Wärmepumpen zu schaffen und die steigende Nachfrage bedienen zu können? 🧵 1/9
Did you know that up to 90% of GHG emissions from a new, energy-efficient building in 🇫🇷 comes from its construction & later demolition? A new regulation, RE2020, aims to change this. Catch our latest #SuccessStories w/ @HBirgisdottir & @cedricborel : https://t.co/SZ8Behxdb0 1/2
This is a crucial figure to understand the current gas market in Western-Central Europe.
Because import terminals are a bottleneck, #TTF prices (and hence DE, DK, NL, BE, AT, etc.) are ~70 €/MWh above Spanish prices, where imports are unconstrained.
This will last until '23.
Today, the United States announced it will be joining the IDDI—a transformative effort to strengthen our industries, create jobs, & build resilient economies in the face of the accelerating climate crisis.

The Georgia-Russia border at Verkhny Lars is often tailed-back, but the social media footage of it today is insane. Spot the guys crossing on scooters, avoiding the ban on pedestrians.

The Breakthrough Agenda Report sets out priority actions that can help ⬇️
✅ Accelerate progress towards net zero emissions
✅ Cut energy costs amid the current energy crisis
✅ Boost food security

The new Breakthrough Agenda Report is out now! 📢
It’s a call for international collaboration, which – as we showed in our Net Zero Roadmap – is critical for enabling a faster transition to a clean energy future.

The Mission has already released an innovation roadmap, “Towards Net-Zero Industries”, focusing on industries such as steel, cement, and chemicals which require extremely high temperatures and subsequently use enormous amounts of energy. Take a look here: https://t.co/10Agq1CDvW
We are delighted to announce that a new Mission has been launched. Today at @GCEAF_USA, Ministers @lgewessler & @Bowenchris launched the Net-Zero Industries Mission. More information below. 👇
New report!
The #CleanHydrogen Mission has published a new report analysing global research, development and demonstration activity at each stage of the #hydrogen innovation cycle. The report includes in-depth analysis of clean hydrogen activities in 10 countries. More below👇
Launched at #COP26 by 45 countries, the #BreakthroughAgenda is a global commitment to rapidly scale up #CleanTechnologies. From @Cop27P, Mission Innovation and @CEMSecretariat will jointly provide leadership of the Breakthrough Agenda for an initial pilot phase of one year.
Industrial heat accounts for about 9% of the entire U.S. emissions footprint. @ENERGY’s 6th Earthshot aims to dramatically reduce the cost, energy use, and carbon emissions associated with the heat used to make everything from food to cement and steel. https://t.co/QpYGa6HDaI
Was verbirgt sich dahinter? Thread. (1/15) https://t.co/jM0cb3StJR
Comme l’année n’est pas terminée, il est encore temps de faire un petit #Thread sur l’épidémie de suicides et autres morts accidentelles qui frappe les russes fortunés, notamment dans les domaines du gaz et du pétrole.
@andreasgraf Interesting data. Of course, caveat is what "smart" means. FR's Linky system can measure real time consumption (if you proactively log in and ask EDF to do so...). But it can't remotely pilot consumption even with consumer approval. We probably want smarter than that.
@JMGlachant@federicofubini Because you still want to discourage coal as much as possible in short and long term and because carbon pricing is a necessary part of the policy framework to do that. I mean, how short-sighted can you be?
@felixmatthes I think this is missing the point. First, keeping a tiny amount of nuclear in DE would move us away from a world of constant ideological opposition between the all nuclear and all renewables camps. This hurts the transition. Second, what if you need an extra few MWh in winter?
Just want to reemphasize that on climate, Ds have NOT settled for a watered-down version of the original goals. They got almost the whole thing. Here's emission reductions from the REPEAT project:
