In a major breakthrough against kidnapping, the Kwara State Police Command has arrested seven suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered firearms during a series of intelligence-led operations conducted across parts of the State.
On 28th May 2026, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, acting on credible intelligence regarding the abduction of a resident within the Agbeyangi axis of Ilorin, launched a coordinated intelligence-led operation aimed at rescuing victims and dismantling the criminal network responsible for a series of kidnapping incidents across the State.

Further exploitation of the intelligence gathered led to the arrest of Umar Yabani alias "Yabo," identified as the leader of the syndicate,Isah A. Sule and Umar Sani.

Consequently, on 4th June 2026, the Command carried out a follow-up intelligence-led operation in collaboration with members of the Forest Guard and Local Vigilante Groups across strategic locations within Edu and Ifelodun Local Government Areas.

Woro: We're working with security agencies, stakeholders on terrorists’ video, says Kwara Govt
The Kwara State Government is deeply concerned over the disturbing video released by terrorists earlier today, allegedly showing some persons taken during the tragic February 3 attack on Woro community. As always, our thoughts are with all the families affected, and we reaffirm our commitment to securing the safe return of all those impacted.
We acknowledge the anxiety that this footage may cause. Government officials and security agencies are carefully analysing the video to establish the identities of the individuals shown.
Since the incident, there have been varying accounts regarding the number of persons abducted. For this reason, neither the State Government nor security agencies have announced a definitive figure. Our priority remains the safe rescue of every affected citizen and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
We have engaged Woro community leaders to assist in identifying individuals seen in the footage. As of now, a few persons have been preliminarily identified from the video as residents of Woro. Community representatives have also indicated that more individuals remain unaccounted for. It is important to note that some persons initially reported missing have since reunited with their families, while others may have temporarily relocated to neighbouring communities, including Wawa and New Bussa in Niger State.
The Government’s response committee, led by His Highness Ahmed Ibn Muhammed, continues to work with security agencies, local authorities, and community stakeholders to coordinate efforts, humanitarian support, and the safe return of displaced persons.
We assure the public that verified updates will be provided as more information becomes available through proper coordination with security and community leaders. We urge residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and continue cooperating with authorities.

FG Approves Three Policies To Reshape Civil Service: Incentives, Rewards, Mentorship
To reshape the Federal Civil Service, the Federal Government has approved three transformative policies: the Rewards and Recognition Policy, the Incentive and Consequence Management Policy, and the Civil Service Mentoring Policy — all aimed at boosting productivity and enhancing service delivery.
In a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Eno Olotu, the strategic approval was granted during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The move heralds a new era of performance-driven governance, strategic talent development, and enhanced accountability ,designed to motivate staff, instill a culture of excellence, and significantly improve service delivery to Nigerians.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, affirmed that these policies are pivotal to Staff Welfare and Enhanced Value Proposition — one of the six pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25) — and are aligned with the 2021 Public Service Rules (060101–060111).
While commending the President for his unwavering commitment to transforming the Civil Service and fostering a workplace culture that is Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible, and Citizen-Centric (EPIC), the Head of Service stated that the approval is a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to valuing public servants, rewarding excellence, and cultivating the next generation of leaders.
The Rewards and Recognition Policy provides a comprehensive framework for boosting productivity by attracting, nurturing, and retaining the best talent in the service. It promotes a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, thereby elevating overall institutional performance.
The Incentive and Consequence Management Policy introduces a transparent and equitable system in which high performance is duly rewarded, while underperformance is addressed through structured and fair consequences. It ensures accountability at all levels while providing support for officers who require improvement.
The Civil Service Mentoring Policy represents a strategic investment in future leadership. It aims to bridge experience gaps, facilitate knowledge transfer, and equip upcoming officers with the skills, values, and ethical grounding required for effective leadership. The policy also safeguards institutional memory amid retirements, ensuring continuity and sustained excellence.
Didi Esther Walson-Jack reiterated that the presidential approval for these policies is not merely an administrative milestone but the foundation upon which a modern, agile, and empowered Civil Service will be built. She assured civil servants that their dedication will be recognized, excellence rewarded, and career growth supported.
