My last day as School Librarian at @OLHSMotherwell (job deleted). I've loved my years here of mad ideas, laughter, awards, inspiring colleagues, amazing young people and wonderful storytelling.
Always say goodbye with a smile if you can, so enjoy a final wee story from me 😊xxx
Once, Wren travelled to Hell to bring fire to the world. As she flew back with a burning ember, her tail ignited. Robin wrapped her in his feathers to douse the flames. Now: wrens have short tails, robins red breasts & we have 🔥 in #winter.

Thanks to @scottishbktrust for sharing news that we've become a Gold Reading School. Brilliant work from around the school, Reading Leaders, faculties, our wonderful young people, and the whole @OLHSMotherwell community for supporting us

Final “Who am I?” (As a reader) lesson with S1. With a bit of persuasion, lots of chat and some interesting examples EVERYONE saw themselves as readers and that’s exactly how it should be.
@jonnybid I used to ask pupils to create wordless ppts so they couldn't stand and read from the screen, but had the chance to practise their presenting skills. Sometimes, I'd suggest they could present in whatever way they liked except ppt. Oh the disbelief! The confusion! The horror 😱
Exciting news: it’s a #Xmas#giveaway. RT this, make sure you’re following me, and you’ve a good chance of #winning one of three signed copies of When Things Went Wild, a children’s novel described by The Sunday Times as ‘an observant and captivatingly funny story’. #competition
I've written a short story for school or home based on events Audrey Hepburn was involved with during Christmas 1944. Linked to Resist. To be released in print and a video tonight. (Cover by @jamesinnerdale.)
There are some brilliant competitions with fantastic prizes available to enter at Caboodle, especially if you're a book monster like me.
Don't forget the dastardly Hidden Books Game.

One pretty cool geological fun fact is that the Scottish Highlands, the Appalachians, and the Atlas are the same mountain range, once connected as the Central Pangean Mountains

A perfect choice for St Andrew's Day reading?
Luke and I sat and read each line aloud, comparing and loving the translations into Scots. Scots just says it so much better. Where's the audiobook?
Congratulations, especially to @crosbie_mrs and especially especially to @AirdrieAcademyLRC for digging in under horrible circumstances and achieving such a brilliant result.
Evidence of the value of school librarians right here!
Thrilled to be the first NLC secondary to achieve Gold @scottishbktrust
Thanks to our Reading Leaders, whole school community, School Librarian Mrs Agnew and Mrs Crosbie for all their hard work and dedication.

@scottishbktrust Delighted that we'll be welcoming @strangelymagic to @OLHSMotherwell on Friday morning to speak to our S1 and S2 pupils about War of the Wind. Can't wait!
Reading this I have yet again moved from a sense of anger and disbelief that we are yet again having this conversation to an overwhelming sense of sadness but a need to say again why libraries are so important, look again at what they do and who their partners are
Our natural world is in a critical condition. Choreographer @SadeckW and students from Bird College have created a beautiful "human murmuration". This shows how world leaders must work together at #COP15 to restore nature and halt biodiversity loss. https://t.co/tFXOdiyo03
