Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken on September 11, 2001. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger, the families who carry their loss, and the Americans who answered the call to serve in the years that followed.

We made a promise that day: Never Forget.

Twenty-five years later, that promise still carries a responsibility—to remain vigilant, to protect our communities, and to stand against those who seek to harm our people and our way of life.

We are especially grateful for the men and women of the Operation Lone Star Task Force who continue that mission here in Texas. Every day, they serve across jurisdictions and alongside one another to confront threats and help ensure those who seek to harm Texans do not succeed.

We remember. We honor. We remain vigilant.

Cartels are sophisticated criminal networks. They adapt, exploit vulnerabilities, and constantly look for new ways to move drugs and other illicit goods through our country.

Law enforcement must be just as adaptive. Vigilance, intelligence sharing, and strong partnerships are key to identifying these operations and disrupting them.

More than 2,000 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in a shipment of cabbage were seized by the #DEA McAllen office in the Rio Grande Valley. This major seizure is part of a a Homeland Security Taskforce investigation, conducted jointly with HSI, the FBI, CBP, USBP, and TXDPS.

Strong partnerships and relentless enforcement produce real results.

Yesterday the OLS Task Force conducted a highway interdiction operation in Refugio County. Included in the numerous arrests and detentions were 30 illegal aliens stopped for violation of Texas traffic laws. All were turned over to ICE for deportation proceedings.

Goliad County Sheriff Roy Boyd, OLS-TF Leader, enforces 287(g) through all three models, calling 287(g) "an extra tool for his deputies," arguing it can help confront cartels as they have a “huge logistical footprint in the United States of America.”

This morning, the Goliad County OLS Task Force Lieutenant made a traffic stop near the community of Fannin and found that all four Hondurans in the truck were illegally in the U.S. They have been turned over to ICE for deportation proceedings. #olstaskforce

This weekend, OLS Task Force agency Goliad SO stopped Lionis Castelnaux Garrido and Yisenia Fabaris Lopez of Cuba. Both are illegally in the U.S.

In their car, deputies found a loaded pistol, machete, brass knuckles, butterfly knife, and a very patriotic fixed-blade knife. Both were arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by an illegal alien.

ICE detainers have been issued.

Yesterday a Jackson County SO OLS Task Force deputy contacted Edgar Perez Hernandez on a bus traveling south. The bus was stopped as part of a joint effort between Texas DPS and Jackson Co SO to prevent a wanted person from fleeing the U.S.

Hernandez was wanted out of Florida for Interference with Custody, Lewd Molestation of a child under 12, Traveling to Meet a Minor, Sexual Battery of a Child (12-17 years old), and numerous other charges relating to sexual offenses. He was also found to be illegally in the United States, and now has a detainer issued for him by ICE. Hernandez was taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Jail for extradition to Florida.

Today, an OLS Task Force member agency made a traffic stop in Refugio and discovered one of the occupants was from Australia and was wanted by federal authorities for overstaying his visa. He was turned over to ICE for deportation proceedings. The other occupant was wanted for a Theft warrant out of Karnes County. He was taken to the Refugio County Jail.

Yesterday, the OLS Task Force, in collaboration with our federal partners, conducted an interdiction operation in Fayette County.

Officers and deputies made 69 arrests. Of those, several were prior deportees, absconders, sex offenders, and a convicted money launderer.

This morning, an OLS Task Force interdiction deputy made a traffic stop in Goliad County. The driver fled into the brush and was arrested. He was identified as Johan Mosquera of Venezuela.

He has been deported previously but returned illegally to the U.S. Mosquera was arrested and is in custody at the Goliad County Jail on several state charges with a detainer for ICE. #olstaskforce

Last Friday, OLS-TF Leader Sheriff Roy Boyd met in Calgary, Alberta with the Minister of Public Safety Mike Ellis, Chief Sheriff of Alberta Sat Parhar, along with the RCMP, and the Chief of the Calgary Police Department to discuss continental security.

With Mexican cartels controlling organized criminal activity in the U.S. and Canada, Gov. @GregAbbott_TX's #OperationLoneStarTaskForce is leading the push for increased cooperation between law enforcement in both nations.
