Osun State University had no business running a multi - campus system.
It was at best a political move. A pointless one at that. Having a whole Faculty of Law in Ifetedo itself is madness.
โAll she needed was oxygenโ โ outrage as 400-level UNIOSUN student dies over โpoor medical careโ
There was outrage at the University of Osun (UNIOSUN) on Friday following the death of Grace Osunlakin, a 400-level student, over alleged poor healthcare facilities at its Ifetedo campus.
Some students staged a protest to express their anger over the death of their colleague, whom they claimed could have survived if adequate medical care had been available.

UNIOSUN is trying to shift blame away from them? We are advocating for 24 hour healthcare services and they are busy repeating that she wasn't brought to the school clinic! The clinic closes at 3 or 4pm! The nurses are harsh and dismissive!
The most ridiculous thing is that motorcycle( as in okada) is the only form of transportation in that Ifetedo campus, and theyโre not even allowed into the campus as early 7pm
For a clinic that closes as early as 4-5pm, clinic that doesnโt open at all on public holidays, thatโs not equipped with basic emergency first aid equipment.

Death of UniOsun Student: Gov Adeleke, please allow Ifetedo General Hospital to function
By Ismail Omipidan
Two years ago, I wrote a piece titled "Tragedy of the Commons in Osun," in which I argued, among other things, that the current administration in Osun appears not to get its priorities right.
In that piece, I also drew the attention of the governor and his handlers to the fact that they should hasten up with the inauguration of equipment donated to Ifetedo General Hospital.
Yusuf Ali, SAN, a philanthropist par excellence and who is passionate about Osun and humanity, donated multi-million naira state-of-the-art hospital equipment to Ifetedo General Hospital. Sadly, more than three years after the donation, the state government has yet to inaugurate the equipment, thereby denying the public access to these much-needed facilities. This speaks volumes about the priorities of the government and its concern for the well-being of its people.
I am compelled to revisit this matter because a life has been lost. A final year student for that matter. If the governor can move parts of hospital equipment donated by spirited individuals to Ila General Hospital, to Ede, his home town , for the use of Ede people, why is he finding it difficult to allow Ifetedo people and other neighbouring communities benefit from Aliโs gesture?
Now, imagine if those medical equipment had been inaugurated and put into use. It would have help in treatment of the late student. Wouldnโt the school have been saved from being shut down as a result of the death of a student of Osun State University, Ifetedo College?
Reports indicate that the students staged a protest to demand a probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 400-level student of Criminology and Security Studies, Grace Osunlakin. They claim that the late student died after health complications that began barely 24 hours before her demise.
From my interactions with some of the students and residents of the area, they claim that the schoolโs medical facilities do not run 24 hours service. In fact, the place according to their claim is usually shut by 6pm, meaning that a functional General Hospital would certainly have complemented the services being rendered by the school medical facilities. Mr. Governor, the time to act is now, sir!
Davido's uncle is the executive governor of Osun State mind you, and this is the state's university. But Davido once stated that his uncle is doing well.
Even during the day, we would stand for a long time, before we even geta bike and when we eventually get one, they would say outrageous prices like we have a machine dispensing money for us.
The Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN placed an embargo on field trips until further notice, stating that the university must not expose students to unnecessary risks or make them vulnerable. Yet, students of the Ifetedo Campus have now been compelled to travel under the same unsafe
Final year Uniosun student d+es a day after her project defense due to lack of basic amenities after being rushed to the school clinic
Osunlakin Grace, a 400-level Criminology student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Ifetedo Campus, d+ed just a day after successfully defending her final-year project on Tuesday, June 24, 2026.
According to the OSUSU Welfare Director, Oguntola Helen, Grace suffered a severe asthma att@ck late Wednesday night and began struggling to breathe. Her friends rushed to her aid and tried to help before taking her to the school clinic, only to discover it had closed at 4 p.m., with no doctor, nurse or emergency service available.
With no ambulance on campus, College President Moshood Ali, Akinyode and others secured a motorcycle to take her to the nearest Primary Healthcare Centre. However, students alleged the facility lacked the equipment needed to stabilize her. Her Head of Department and Staff Adviser later transported her to a hospital in Ondo State, but she d+ed on Thursday morning.
Students believe the delay in receiving emergency treatment contributed to her d+ath, insisting she only needed oxygen to survive. During a peaceful protest, Helen said, โShe had an att@ckโฆ all she needed was oxygen to stabilize her. No nebulizer, no oxygen.โ
The incident sparked protests on campus, with students accusing the school clinic of operating for only a few hours daily despite serving thousands of students. They also alleged the doctor showed little empathy and later told them, โDonโt rush me,โ after another student suffered a medical emergency during the protest.
@Campus9jaa@OLUWAFIKAYOME@instablog9ja The school was temporarily closed yesterday. Then this morning, students were instructed to vacate the hostels with all their belongings on very short notice while many were still grieving the loss of our course mate.
Itโs high time that school stopped acting like they have only one campus.
Students who put their lives and care in a school that is supposed to cater for them shouldnโt be dying, especially not for reasons that are avoidable.
Having students vacate their hostels, we have students who are travelling as far Abuja, Kogi, Abeokutaโฆโฆ.. this same hostel where students during exams, wake up as early and 6am on the day their exams to get water from neighbouring houses.

We are tired of surviving in conditions that should never exist on a university campus. Students deserve a humane environment, functional healthcare, and leadership that acts before another life is lost.
Uniosun Ifetedo campus!!

Theyโve released memo for students in the school hostels to leave on or before 3pm on Sunday, same people that restricted travelling across campus within the state.@Campus9jaa@instablog9ja
A graduating student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has reportedly passed away following a medical emergency, with reports alleging that oxygen was unavailable when it was urgently needed.
If these reports are accurate, then this is a tragedy that raises serious concerns about the state of healthcare facilities in our institutions.
This is not just about one student. Across Nigeria, students have lost their lives due to inadequate medical facilities, delayed treatment, and poorly equipped school clinics.
We are using this platform to advocate for better healthcare services across Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges.
No student's dream should be cut short because a school clinic lacks basic life-saving equipment.
We call on the relevant authorities, school managements, government agencies, and stakeholders to prioritize students' health and invest in properly equipped healthcare centers.

You wonโt believe it, there is no standard hospital in Ifetedo. Even the public health centre is far more vibrant and functional than the schoolโs health centre.
To receive proper medical treatment, students are forced to travel all the way to Ondo or travel back home ๐ญ.
