My first first-author paper is live! We studied breeding season roost site selection of northern bobwhite and provide further evidence of the importance of proper habitat management for bobwhite population persistence.
Such a fun day constructing bluebird boxes with a group of students from 5 different rural schools in SD. It's not everyday young students get to work with hammers and nails in school to build something for the birds!

Often considered one of the "least mobile" of all galliformes... some of our radio-collared bobwhite quail have traveled "far" distances (3+ miles)...while others tended to hang around in the same general area (< 1 mile radius).
