In the last hour since I finished work I’ve had 7 phone calls from frantic parents looking for a place for ‘23 as another local service will close its doors. I can accommodate 2. Apparently I should expect 15 more phone calls. Yet @rodericogorman thinks closures aren’t happening
11th November services nationwide will be closing their doors in protest. Capitation for Ecce services must be raised to €76 per child at a cost of €30 to Government if this does not happen we will loose so many small services next year. @rodericogorman you must fix this.
Our minister is now saying 100 services where impacted negatively with CF. But over the last 7 months in his statements said 1% 50 providers. Why a change in numbers. @padraigosull@CathalCroweTD@Toibin1 we know it’s a lot higher than this. We need full transparency now
500 Early Child Care Providers are Set to Close Their Doors From November
"There will be rolling closures of ECCE services, this will affect about 20,000 parents. The reason for this is the Minister for Children's Core Funding plan"
Calling all ECCE Educators. I will be giving a FREE Webinar on Thursday 27th October, speaking about the links between free play, risk, and social and emotional development!
You can book a place by emailing: [email protected]
Hope to see you there!
5 year old has been sa gaelscoil not even 2 months now. Neither parent are Gaeilgeoirs yet the language is important to us. Words are pouring out at home naturally now & it seems fun vs a chore. So happy for her & regret that it wasn’t the norm when I was in school! #creidimionat
I have said as long as I live I am going to continue extending the hand of friendship. And I am so proud of the way the country supported the LGBTI community in the marriage equality referendum. I am honoured that the play A Day In May is coming back to the stage.
@EarlyChildhdIRL, in a 2016 report, stated: "Of particular concern within privately owned childcare facilities is the tendency for many owner/managers to use their own salaries to supplement the operational costs of their businesses."
It's still happening.
@rodericogorman
NEWSFLASH...
Core Funding, so far, fails to stop the trend of service closures. 29% increase in net closures year on year.
According to @dcediy, closure rates are "broadly in line" with previous years. Is this considered a success?

We have continuously over the last two years asked this rule to be changed. It is so wrong to discriminate against a worker who had gone and done her degree to be treated in this manner. @rodericogorman @
For months this Gov. has opposed energy market reform & windfall taxes on energy companies. Electricity price caps will take effect in the Netherlands, Austria, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark & others. The Gov. should wake up & implement Sinn Féin's plan.
We delivered 5 boxes of letters from providers who have signed up to Core Funding under duress to @mmcgrathtd@LeoVaradkar@Paschald@MichealMartinTD@Toibin1 we are asking that you address these providers before budget. €76 capitation rise per ECCE child at cost €30m.
Due to the current weather conditions, we encourage all road users to take care. @MetEireann have issued a level Orange rainfall warning for a number of counties.
This must be addressed. The sustainability fund must be spent by the end of the year. This would prevent these services from closing next year @rodericogorman@mmcgrathtd@Paschald
