Another interesting workshop that some of our #OPTEXC PhDs were able to experience. Title: ‘Plan and Follow Through: Goal Setting, Time Tracking and Project Management for PhDs’ by Dr #EmmaGeoffray.
Congratulations on the completion of the doctorate of #Simon Biberger, Chair of Soft Matter Optoelectronics,
Experimental Physics II of the #UBT and a valuable member of the #OPTEXC PhD group. All the best for your future!
A warm welcome to our PhD #Subhalakshmi Suresh Kumar from #Monash University, who will be researching at #UBT for 1 year as part of her joint PhD. Various methods of X-ray scattering can be performed on this device (‘GIWAXS’ also known as grazing incidence wide angle scattering).
Time for another Lab Tour: Simon of EPIII at #UBT is showing the other students of #OPTEXC his optical setup for measuring the 2D spectra of single molecules.
Another Lab Tour at EPVIII, #UBT, guided by #FabianBrütting. He explains the set-up: The ultrafast spectroscopy setup including the strong terahertz source allows controlling excitons in semiconductor nanomaterials on sub-picosecond timescales.
We welomce: Leshy and my research is focused on the ordering of fluorophores into arrays. In Bayreuth, we are performing antibunching measurements on the MT200 microscope (pictured) in a Hanbury-Brown-Twiss setup to determine the presence of single emitting species.
...even outside ECIS 2024 in Copenhagen, #MaximilianTheis had a good time with other physicists (#MarkusRetsch), i.e. exploring the city and at the conference dinner.
Congratulations to Max from our #OPTEXC team for receiving the Elsevier Poster Award at ECIS 2024 in Copenhagen. His research on controlling order-to-disorder transitions in colloidal 2D assemblies was highly recognized.
After 6 months sabbatical: welcome back #evaherzig! The time was also used for a meeting with the group of #ChrisMcNeill at Monash University, Melbourne.
Thanks to#JeffersonLam at #UBT for our #OPTEXC project!
"I can't express enough thanks for everyone who has supported me in this visit, especially the OPTEXC IRTG program who has facilitated this visit, and I am excited to maintain collaborations even when I return to Australia!"
A visit from down under:
One of our Australian PIs, Prof Trevor Smith(right), UoM, is enjoying a few summer days with his German PI colleague, Prof Jürgen Köhler, EPIX, University of Bayreuth, in the Fichtelgebirge. #UBT#OPTEXC
The µ-spectroscopy setup faciliates the measurement of spatially resolved UV-Vis spectroscopy in reflectance and transmission, as well as fluorescense spectroscopy - lab tour Maximilian Theis
Our next lab tour at PCI, Physical chemistry, polymers and colloids for sustainable materials and technologies - Retsch group @UniBT@Retschpekt, leaded by Maximilian Theis:
The CrESP process allows for the synthesis of nanozised silica particles with a gradual change in size.
Successful participation in the ICSM 2024 in Dresden!
Our OPTEXC PhD Ms Sruthy Asa Rajan has won the poster award "Materials Horizons".
Congratulations dear Sruthy!
What a wonderful experience! With some of the PhDs at the wine tasting in #Paradiesvogel#Bayreuth. Great wines, competent advice and lots of enjoyment.
