Day 2 - Shipping ideas at #AvalancheGameJam2025 🇻🇳 [Recap yesterday]

So I officially named Day 2 of Avalanche GameJam in Hội An “shipping Ideas”. And honestly, the name fits perfectly.

Yesterday was intense. We literally brainstormed ideas until 1AM throwing wild concepts on the board, debating, laughing, sometimes even hitting a creative block, but pushing through anyway. That’s the real hackathon vibe right there.

This morning, we had a workshop on game design, diving deep into something called the MDA framework.

If you haven’t heard of it, MDA stands for Mechanics – Dynamics – Aesthetics.

It’s basically a lens to figure out how a game becomes fun and how the rules you design (mechanics) evolve into player behavior (dynamics), which finally creates the emotional experience (aesthetics).

When you tie that together with a clear problem statement + theme, you start to see your game come alive in a meaningful way. 📝

So big shoutout to @Oggzie for breaking it all down so clearly 👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼

I also partnered with @harry_phan06 to record my very first podcast interview 🎙️. He shared his story of starting out with Avalanche from last year’s event at Nhà Văn hoá Sinh Viên in HCM, all the way to this bootcamp in Hội An.

Listening to how the journey evolved was both inspiring and a reminder of how far the community has come.
