Statements made by CENTCOM detailing earlier attacks this week in the region also stated that all projectiles were intercepted or didn’t make it to their intended target. These claims were quickly debunked at a later date by satellite imagery confirming damage to US assets.

In time we will be able to fact check this CENTCOM claim as well.

🇺🇸 U.S CENTCOM STATEMENT:

U.S. forces intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran toward the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf neighbors, June 5.

Iran fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain hours after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that were launched toward the Strait of Hormuz. The attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic. U.S. forces subsequently struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further maritime attacks.

Initial assessments indicate six of the missiles launched by Iran were intercepted and a seventh did not reach its intended target. There are currently no reports of harm to U.S. personnel, and Iranian claims of damaging U.S. 5th fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false.

CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and postured to continue responding to unwarranted Iranian aggression in self-defense.

🇮🇷 IRGC statement on attacks in #Kuwait and #bahrain:

‘At 1:30 AM today, four hostile oil tankers, incited and directed by the aggressor American military, and without coordination or regard for the warnings issued by the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran, attempted an illegal exit from the Strait of Hormuz. After the warning, one of the tankers was targeted and stopped, while the other two tankers turned back.

Following this incident, at 2:00 AM, American unmanned aircraft bombed a communications port in Qeshm and a port in Sark with two missiles. In response to this American aggression, the air forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran immediately targeted two American air bases in Kuwait, namely Ali Al-Salem, in addition to the remaining important facilities belonging to the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, with ballistic missiles.’
