U.S. Central Command:

“We are aware of the loss of a KC 135 American aerial refueling aircraft. The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury, and rescue efforts are still ongoing.

Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One aircraft crashed in western Iraq and the second aircraft landed safely.

The incident was not caused by hostile fire or friendly fire.

We ask for continued patience as we gather additional details and provide clarity to the families of the service members.”
