Our Streets adopted 45 of those children, providing them with items from their personal wishlists. Our crew organized and packaged the gifts to drop off today. It was a privilege helping Rose Haven and the families they serve this year. 🖤
Every year, our goal is to get gifts to families and children in need. This year, we partnered with @rosehaven_pdx to aid them in their Adopt a Family program. Rose Haven serves more than 500 children for the holidays.
November Numbers!
In November we made and distributed 18,718 meals, including:
▪️2,069 free meals to free fridges and other community partners
▪️500 collaboration meals
▪️More than 1,300 pounds of food repurposed
▪️147 volunteer hours
It warms our hearts to see so many folks wanting to help prepare meals for people experiencing housing and food insecurity. Our volunteer waitlist for Thanksgiving Day is completely full, but we have opportunities available the following days. Come lend a hand then. 🖤
Our Wednesday prep nights are great for larger groups. If your organization or business has been looking for ways to volunteer, this is an excellent opportunity. Reach out to our Kitchen Manager Jocelyn at [email protected] if interested in having your group help out.
We've adjusted our volunteer hours! With recent changes in kitchen operations comes some adjustments to volunteer times and days. We have 10 AM - 1 PM shifts available Monday through Friday and 6 PM - 9 PM shifts available Wednesday evenings.

He hopes his legacy is uplifting the community through music. “It is the language my heart knows best,” he says, “and to share that experience is something I treasure dearly.”
Meet Joshua, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Our Streets.
Joshua joined Our Streets because of his shared goals with our Cofounders: uplifting and supporting BIPOC community members, connecting them to available resources, and addressing food insecurity.
To him, “community is an essential part of the human experience,” he says. Helping people navigate the complexity of joy, love, and healing intermixed with trauma, anger, and struggles within a community is how Joshua finds his own purpose.
Thank you to New Seasons for bringing us into your Bag it Forward program, the employees for their hard work, and the New Seasons customers for using reusable bags and helping Portland nonprofits keep the mission going. 🖤
We're a part of the New Seasons Bag it Forward program! We were the nonprofit selected as the Food Equity partner for the New Season's Concordia location from April to September 2022.
New Seasons donates 5¢ to its selected local nonprofit for every reusable bag used.
He enjoys being in the organization's kitchen. "The community's great, people are funny, and I'm learning new knife skills," he says.
Thank you to Brian and everyone else who has volunteered with us. Whether it's once or every week, your help is incredible. 🖤
Nearly every week, on his day off from work, Brian comes into the Our Streets kitchen to help the crew with food prep. He got into helping out mutual aid organizations with his roommate, and Our Streets had always been somewhere he wanted to volunteer.
