We didn’t reach the summit of Ben Alder… but that’s only part of the story.
Packrafts, a bothy, wild Scottish weather and a great adventure.

Finally got back out in the packrafts and headed north to explore Cam Loch in Assynt. Amazing paddle, wild camp, failed river exploration attempt, and a brutal headwind that turned the paddle back into a cross-country carry instead.

An easy return to the hills.
A circuit around Stac Pollaidh with an optional ridge climb, big views over Assynt and out to the Summer Isles. A short, tricky scramble if you go for the true summit.

Ben Mór Coigach & Sgùrr an Fhìdhleir in one short, steep day. A sea wall of rock, an airy horseshoe ridge, and huge views all round. The Garbh Choireachan leads to the sharp summit of the Fiddler, with a sheer drop below.

6 of the 12 Bens, one hell of a loop - with a bivvy on Bencorr. Glencoaghan Horseshoe in Connemara National Park. Endless ridge lines, a heatwave that made every climb hit harder - 23°C with no cover, no cloud (a rarity), and no mercy. Tough, hot, and unforgettable. #12Bens
I have to say that I was in some state getting up that first section to Sgurr a ‘Mhaim. 🤬🤬 MrsO totally outperformed and outclassed me on that section. I was really feeling it. Once I’d grizzzzzed out that section the rest was superb! 🤯🤯
