Just watched an incredibly moving documentary on @Channel4 called ‘Nikki Grahame: Who Is She?’. Nikki was so infectious and made the whole nation smile.
Eating disorders are one of the most devastating illnesses and it’s incredibly brave for Sue (Nikki’s Mum) to raise awareness.
An example I’ve experienced is that a parent desperately wanted me to help develop a teenager’s fine motor skills however the teenager wanted to work on their emotional resilience and anxiety management. Have any paediatric OT’s come across a similar experience?
Working with autistic teenagers has really shown me the value of person-centred practice in OT. It’s important to gain consent from both the young person AND their parents but I’ve noticed that sometimes the parents’ OT goals for their child doesn’t align with the young person’s.

Attended an excellent training session on my inset-day last week by the wonderful Gemma who founded @neuro_frontiers. Any OT’s working with patients with neurological conditions needs to check this out! Absolutely groundbreaking stuff!
I have the most incredible TA’s at my school! One of them loves crafting/building and made all of these fine motor skill resources for OT use over her weekend😭🥹
So excited to use these for fine motor sessions!
Had an excellent time supporting a young person at their @MovethemindCIO session. What a brilliant way for young people to connect with nature and practise some hands-on activities 👏
Having a full circle moment 🥹 I first learned about OT when I was a teaching assistant in a primary school supporting children with SEND…
Today I’ve just been offered an OT position in my local special school! I am over the moon 🌙
“I had no hope this morning and really needed this today, thank you” - Comments like this after arranging meaningful activities for patients is one of the many reasons I love OT 💚 #addinglifetodays#mentalhealthOT
Absolutely loved taking my client to a snooker club yesterday to enjoy their favourite leisure occupation. They were so thankful throughout the activity and said their week ended on a high because of it. #MentalHealthOT#weekendworking
