This is Moira. She is 70 in August but still works around 60 hours a week as a GP in an economically deprived area. She has had approximately 2 days off sick in 40 years. She lost her husband in 2016 and took 10 days off then tbf. I’m not sorry for inheriting her stiff upper-lip.
@90sWWE HHH vs Cactus Jack at the Royal Rumble in 2000. Blood pouring down HHH’s head after he blades, the cut on his leg, the thumb tacs. And the story behind it…exceptional.
@TheFergusonWay This would be very disappointing. I’d say we should have left Ederson at Atalanta to give us enough to pay for Tonali. Maybe the club think depth is more important than quality next season.
Really struggling to understand why we’d drop £35m on Ederson and limit ourselves to £70m for that third midfielder. Why not get Fernandes and spend £105m on someone from the very top table? I can only think the club consider depth more important next season than outright quality.
@Weareutdpod Think it should be about consolidation. 3rd, a Champions League QF and a good go in at least one of the domestic cups would have us very well placed ahead of 27/28.
Andy Mitten and @Muppetiers , who are both very reliable, are saying the club just can’t afford/won’t pay for players from the top table right now. I struggle to make sense of that - we’re about to drop £30m plus on what looks like a third choice. Why not put that money into your first choice, turning your £80m budget into £110m?
@Muppetiers Thankfully a departure from 2 years ago when, to paraphrase Andy Mitten, “New people were trying to establish themselves and prove their worth. One got a plane to Munich, came back and said, “We’ve signed Matthias De Ligt.””
@StretfordPaddck@JayMotty@adamsummerton Great attribute, no doubt, but it doesn’t make him a top player. We heard in 2022 all about Antony’s tough upbringing and he was a disaster of a signing.
@Muppetiers Would love a video later on what this means. Is he the second midfielder at a lower price, giving us more to work with for our main target? I hope so. Or is he the first of three solid additions in the £40-60m range? I hope not.
@Muppetiers The massive worry for me is the levels of those mentioned. All may be really good players…but none are giving Europe’s finest sleepless nights. Replacing Casemiro with two or three decent players could be a disaster. Must get one who’s top tier.
@ConnorF1878@adzvii Feels a bit Bale 2013 to me. He was never going to join us, but we thought our offer would get it done. I accept Ed Woodward’s not involved this time, which is something!
@NathSalt1 And while maybe not the case from a business perspective, if they perform the fee becomes a distant memory quite quickly. Nobody at Arsenal will be complaining that Rice was £100m when they lift the trophy on Sunday.
