I'm meant to be doing my OT Podcast Club listening but forgot to bring my headphones. So instead I'm just lying back, chilling and enjoying the gorgeous view (whilst supporting the kids' cricket too... π)
π It's OT Podcast Club week π
Wednesday 18th June, 7:30pm
We're listening to The Hidden 20%, episode 57: Sir Simon Baron-Cohen, about his work in autism research
DM if you'd like to come along

Lovely last group before our summer break
Possibly too much discussion of household tasks rather than delving into the details of CanMOP, but once you start down the CanMOPwontIRON path, there's no return π€£
Some serious discussion and as always some fun discussing CanMOP this evening at #OTPodcastClub
Over the summer we're hoping to develop the model further into canMOPwontIRON
@ottheorypraxis @vickiellenOT Fair point π
I think I'm just being protective of my nursing/ CBT therapist colleagues - I don't want them seen as ringing a bell every time someone does what they want π€£
OTs def need to be confident they can centre occupation without dressing it up in other profs language π
@vickiellenOT @ottheorypraxis So, I don't think OTs do behavioural activation unless they're working as CBT therapists.
But it really isn't as bad as behaviourism
No pavlovs dogs please π€£ππ€£
@vickiellenOT @ottheorypraxis I don't disagree with per se, but behavioural activation doesn't come from behaviourism, it's from CBT
The idea isn't to change behaviour through reinforcement, but by forcing yourself to do things, you gain positive experiences which shift your emotional and cognitive responses
@vickiellenOT In my view no - behavioural activation is looking at changing the B in a CBT formulation. When we do things with people in OT we're looking at many more aspects of what is helping/hindering their participation
From the outside it can look the same though (as for a lot in MH)
I had no idea there was a new version of the Canadian model, so now my minds pinging with all kinds of #CanMOP thoughts.
Looking forward to tonight to make sense of them π
Tonight's the night for finding out how well we've understood #CanMOP
Come and join us - there's still time to listen to Mary Egan's fantastic explanation of the newest evolution of the Canadian model, the DM for joining details
I listened to the @ElizabethCasso1 lecture this afternoon for #OTPodcastClub so there is definitely still time
Really glad we chose this as it prompted me to listen to it properly!
Come and join us on Wednesday if you fancy digging deeper, and building our own social movement
There's still time to listen before the next @OTPodcastClub and join us on Wednesday to discuss the 'life changing power of occupational therapy ' π
There's always time to listen π
DM for joining details if you fancy chatting about The Time is Now, @KatrinaBannigan's fantastic @ElizabethCasso1 lecture from earlier this year
I sometimes forget that I don't have any official links with @DerbyOT and listening to them talking about belonging at #RCOT2024 makes me feel weirdly chuffed π
Love the variety in how KAWA has been used to bring out different experiences and reflections
I forgot I was meant to be listening to the OT Conversations That Matter podcast about homelessness and occupation over the weekend π¬
I'll have to fit it in tomorrow...
Proves there's always time to join us π€£π€£π€£
As the bank holiday fades, why not ease yourself back into a work mindset by listening to an #OTPodcast
Then come and join us on Wednesday to talk about it
