He’s so dug in his clearly wrong decision on volpe. Volpe was terrible this year and has shown no improvement compared to his first year and you could even say decline. He blames this season on the injury (his fault it wasn’t taken care of) but doesn’t say it was a bad season

Brian Cashman says "I think so" when asked if he believes Anthony Volpe will be the Yankees' shortstop once he's healthy:

"I believe in the player still, we believe in the player. It doesn't mean that we don't play with all aspects of roster assessments.

He's 24 years old, I don't think New York's stage is too big for him. He's still finding his way. The age, there's a lot of value to reminding yourself of that.

You watch the NFL, these number 1 pick quarterbacks that franchises put everything in...you see players that you expect a lot early on from, but then they're not living up to their growing pains. Then they wind up in a different environment, now they're leading their teams.

Sometimes, this isn't linear. It's also not guaranteed, and that's why it's always fair to assess what you have. That, I promise you, always takes place."

Brian Cashman adds that he believes Volpe's shoulder injury did play a role in his performance this season
