"Rhodes Island is quite the amazing place...I never imagined I'd even travel outside of Ursus consistently, let alone travelling all over Terra.
There's many potential research topics I've discovered because of this."
@NimbleWingsRI "A question for the ages, isn't it? Not even the most proficient of psychiatrists can answer that one fully." She smiles lightly.
"If you have complete control over what they eat, then offering some of their favorite food as a reward would work..but you don't have that control."
@NimbleWingsRI "P-perhaps you don't need to go that far!" She did kick the vodka and all-nighter habits, but the coffee itch is still there.
"Truthfully, I don't think we /get/ enough coffee shipped in for anyone to drink that many more cups than is healthy. Food is the problem, here."
"If you develop any theories about the subject of the paper, I'd be happy to discuss things over coffee.
I know better than anyone else that I have blind spots, and that something likely slipped through the cracks."
"I can understand that, curiosity is what drives discovery."
Hegave a small nod, a faint smile touching his expression.
"Thank you, Ksenia. I'll be looking forward to reading it. Perhaps we'll have something to discuss over a cup of coffee once we're back."
@NimbleWingsRI "What worked for me was deprivation of my vices.
I ran out of my personal vodka stash very quickly when I first arrived here. So I stood outside the bar onboard, staring. And when someone inside asked if I needed any help, I just told them no, that I was trying to quit."
@NimbleWingsRI "For me, I fear both sleep and diet were problems for me at one point. Back when I was doing official research work in Ursus...I barely slept, most days. And I self-medicated with vodka and coffee to keep myself awake and moving.
Nowadays, I've kicked most of those habits."
"Most of my research these days is done on personal time. I do conduct experiments on whatever Rhodes Island needs me to while I'm clocked in, but a majority of the topics I cover are just things I'm curious of.
I'll email you the paper when I have a chance."
"I must admit, I haven't studied Originium in quite as much depth as you. I'd be interested in reading your findings, if you wouldn't mind sharing your paper once we're back at Rhodes Island."
@NimbleWingsRI "I would offer a more negative viewpoint on depending on one thing to survive, but I really have no right to be telling anyone about that."
Fidgeting with one of her pens absentmindedly.
@leaderrone "Of course...while working in Ursus, I had my own...modified version of this concept."
Vodka for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and whenever she felt stressed.
"Bloody crap, the whips are cracking!"
It's an emergency", she gives her an apologetic nod.
Time was of the essence and she readies herself for another sprint.
"I don't want to steal any more of your time, Miss Snegurochka! I'll better get going and bring in the news!"
"It was a continuation of some personal research I conducted in Ursus. Namely the effects of freshly mined Originium on the tools that mined them. It's well-documented what Originium does to people, but the tools we use to harvest? Not so much, despite how often we do it."
"The Sarcophagus? That sounds like a remarkable subject to have studied, im impressed."
Thorns tilted his head slightly, a hint of curiosity in his expression.
"Though now I'm curious about the paper you published in Columbia. What was it about?"
It was moreso referring to her brief bouts of hyperactivity after time spent being lazy.
"I'm...afraid not. I've been cooped up in my dorm all day conducting personal research, this is the first time I've stepped outside today."
Hyperactive. What an odd description of her. She expected the opposite, honestly.
"The name is Kroos, correct. As much as I like to chat, it's urgent that I speak to Doctor or Amiya! Have you seen them by chance?"
The Cautus seemed quite in distress, which was rare to witness.
