I hear it's my birthday today.
Another year older. I am told that also means wiser. The jury is still out, but I am grateful for the opportunity to keep making the case.
There is something humbling about a birthday. Not the number, but the people around you. The way they show up, reach out, and remind you that the relationships you have built over a lifetime are worth far more than anything that can be measured on a balance sheet.
To everyone who reached out, thank you.
May Allah grant you peace, good health, and open doors in every direction you turn.
Thank you all.
What does an upstream oil and gas professional think about wind energy, solar farms, and AI?
Meet Lanre Areago, a Geologist in our Upstream business. Understanding subsurface is just one part of his job. Years spent supporting energy development have also provided insight into the broader mix of resources and technologies required to meet growing energy demand.
While oil and gas remain critical to today's energy needs, the future will be shaped by a diverse energy ecosystem in which renewables and emerging technologies also play an important role.

If the environment could speak, what would it say?
Perhaps it would ask why oceans are filling with plastic.
Why forests are disappearing faster than they can recover.
Why wildlife is losing the places it calls home.
Why clean air has become something we only notice when it’s gone.
Nigeria’s renewable energy conversation has long focused on the sun.
But there is another resource hiding in plain sight.
The question is no longer whether the resource exists, but how we unlock it.
