Ghana has been flooding since before independence.
3,000 dead. 700,000 displaced. $1 billion lost.
Not from hurricanes. Not from tsunamis.
From gutters we blocked ourselves. From waterways we built on. From warnings we ignored.
The rain didn't fail us. We failed ourselves.
I normally underestimate my growth but looking back at where I started to where I am now, I can only be grateful to God for growth. Forever grateful ❤️
11 years on, we have still not fixed the basics. it rained today and Adenta is flooded, buildings have collapsed, families are trapped under. sad day in Adenta Newsite bro💔
A city flooding after heavy rain is one thing. A capital city flooding year after year for generations is a failure.
What bothers me isn’t the rain. It’s how we’ve normalized the consequences. A child growing up today can expect the same flooding problems their parents and grandparents experienced. Ghana is failing us.
I can listen to Coach Nimley (I believe that’s his name) all day! He’s such a funny and passionate football enthusiast. And I only saw his photo this weekend when Citi posted videos of some of things he said on radio on Friday. I actually listened live and had a good laugh, even for someone like me who doesn’t know much about football 🫣🤭😆😂
