I am a son of the Ekiti soil. I was born here, raised here, and educated right here in our land of honor. My deep-rooted understanding of our communities does not come from a distance; it comes from a lifetime of living alongside you, sharing your experiences, and breathing the same air. I have always strived to embody the core essence of an Omoluabi: to be exceptionally humble, unyieldingly hardworking, and deeply resilient in the face of challenges.
Because I am one of you, this work is deeply personal to me. My commitment to humility ensures that I will always listen to your voice, from our market women to our youth. My dedication to hard work is visible in the ground-breaking milestones we have delivered together, and my resilience keeps me fighting every single day to protect our peace, our schools, and our future.
Seven days from today, let us stand together to defend the values we hold dear. I ask for your trust to keep a dedicated, homegrown brother at the helm of affairs to sustain our progress. Let us keep moving Ekiti forward.

Ilawe-Ekiti Appoints Princess Folasade Adebanji Alabi as New Regent
The ancient town of Ilawe-Ekiti has appointed Princess Folasade Adebanji Alabi as the new Regent following the passing of the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, Afuntade I. The appointment comes as the community begins the traditional transition process after the monarch’s demise.
Princess Folasade Adebanji Alabi is expected to oversee the affairs of the kingdom in a regency capacity pending the emergence and installation of a new Alawe in accordance with the customs and traditions of the town.
The appointment marks a significant step in maintaining stability and continuity in the traditional institution of Ilawe-Ekiti, one of the prominent communities in Ekiti State. Community leaders and indigenes have expressed confidence in the Regent’s ability to uphold the cultural values and traditions of the kingdom during the transition period.
The late Alawe, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, who reigned for about 14 years, was widely respected for his contributions to peace, development, and traditional leadership in Ilawe-Ekiti and across Ekiti State. He also served as Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers between 2019 and 2021.
As the kingdom mourns the revered monarch, the appointment of Princess Folasade Adebanji Alabi as Regent is seen as a move to preserve the town’s heritage and ensure the smooth administration of traditional affairs until a new king ascends the throne.
