IPOB Brasil Branch Declares Loyalty to Chika Edoziem’s Directorate, Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Leadership Moves https://t.co/CXlKHUYh7r
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) chapter in Brazil has issued a firm official statement reaffirming its full allegiance to the Directorate of States (DOS) led by Chukwukadibia (Chika) Edoziem, while rejecting recent announcements made by imprisoned leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from Sokoto Prison.
In a declaration dated June 25, 2026, titled "Statements & Declarations on the Current Developments, IPOB Brasil stated it is “not being driven by emotion and does not recognize the “so-called new DOS” announced by Kanu.
The chapter described the announcement as allegedly influenced by enemies of Biafra aimed at destabilizing the restoration project.

Take note!
@AloyEjimakor@Dan2000sam You’ve successfully landed him in jail, why won’t you make caricature of him in pretence that you care for him. You won’t end well!!
A reminder to those who have taken the Biafra struggle as their family inheritance and to others, it’s their company , others are employees .
They have forgotten so soon how we get here , the sacrifice, the lives lost , the imprisonment, the exile, its trauma and challenges.
We must respect ourselves in this struggle and behave because Biafrans won’t take rubbish from anyone who plays down on the sacrifice of our people .

IPOB Benin Republic Chapter Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Dissolution of Directorate of State (DOS), Pledges Loyalty to Chika Edoziem https://t.co/6IBAl5Qxan
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) chapter in Benin Republic has issued a strong rejection of the reported dissolution of the movement’s Directorate of State (DOS) by its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, describing the move as potentially influenced by external enemies and vowing continued recognition of the existing leadership under Chika Edoziem.
In a statement received by news outlets, signed by Mazi Rotenna S. as Extreme National Coordinator and Eze Elijah, the National Secretary, the Benin Republic branch labeled the news of the dissolution, first reported by Igbere TV as “laughable” and rejected the appointment of U.S.-based Chris Nwaogu non member of IPOB as the new head of the DOS.
The chapter accused Nigerian government interests, members of Kanu’s family, and his legal team led by Barrister Alloy Ejimako of advising the move to undermine IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), allegedly paving the way for external takeover of Biafran territory.
We have already engaged with some countries that are actively supporting us, others have given firm promises of assistance. Dissolving the DOS is like returning to square 1, handing our affairs over to people who know nothing about IPOB is taking us several steps backwards,

IPOB Brasil Branch Declares Loyalty to Chika Edoziem’s Directorate, Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Leadership Moves
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) chapter in Brazil has issued a strong statement reaffirming its support for the Directorate of States (DOS) led by Chukwukadibia Edoziem, while rejecting announcements made by imprisoned leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from Sokoto Prison.
In a formal declaration dated June 25, 2026, titled “Statements & Declarations on the Current Developments,” IPOB Brasil declared that it is “not being driven by emotion” and does not recognize the “so-called new DOS” announced by Kanu. The group accused Kanu’s announcement of being “tutored and lectured by the Biafrans’ high profile enemies” aimed at disrupting the Biafra restoration project.
The statement reads in part:
“We stand firmly with the real IPOB-DOS under the leadership of gentleman CHIKA EDOZIEM and vehemently opposed any effort by disgruntled, selfish individuals to undermine and demonize the good work being done by them.”
IPOB Brasil condemned “any actions or organised demonisation and blackmail” by opponents of the current DOS and endorsed the institutionalization of IPOB under democratic principles, calling for decentralization of power, checks and balances, and accountability. The chapter emphasized that “any government based on a monopolised power is tyrannical” and that “power corrupts and even absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
While expressing continued personal affection for Nnamdi Kanu, the Brazil chapter stated it would not allow his name to be used to “infiltrate and destroy this noble, Pacific Biafra struggle.” It explicitly reaffirmed its endorsement of the suspension of Kanu’s offices as IPOB Supreme Leader and Director of Radio Biafra, describing the move as necessary to prevent “clumsy, contaminated, ramshackled and wild informations being fomented by the enemies of Biafra self determination.”
The statement concludes by “redeclaring” loyalty to the DOS under Chika Edoziem and was signed by Prince Charles A. Okeke, National Coordinator of IPOB Brasil.
The position taken by IPOB Brasil represents a principled and timely intervention in the ongoing leadership crisis within the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). By firmly aligning with the Directorate of States (DOS) under Mazi Chika Edoziem, the Brazil chapter has underscored the importance of institutional discipline, democratic accountability, and the protection of the movement’s global image against internal sabotage and external manipulation.
A particularly critical concern raised implicitly in the statement and one that demands urgent attention is the growing danger posed by masked armed elements reportedly endorsing or acting in the name of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Such groups, appearing in videos brandishing weapons and issuing threats, risk being exploited by the Nigerian government and its propaganda machinery to paint the entire IPOB family as a violent or terrorist organization. This development threatens to dent the hard-earned reputation of the global IPOB movement, which has consistently projected itself as a peaceful, disciplined, and rights based self-determination struggle.
IPOB Brasil’s rejection of any “clumsy, contaminated” narratives emerging from prison communications, and its call for decentralization and checks and balances, serve as a safeguard against exactly these kinds of damaging associations. Unregulated armed posturing by self-proclaimed Kanu loyalists not only undermines the peaceful, democratic institutionalization the movement requires but also provides ammunition to enemies who seek to criminalize the broader Biafran cause.
By standing resolute with the legitimate DOS structure, IPOB Brasil has demonstrated leadership and foresight. Their declaration is not merely an expression of loyalty to one DOS but a defense of the integrity, unity, and long-term viability of the global IPOB family. In a struggle that depends heavily on international sympathy and diaspora support, maintaining a clear distinction between disciplined activism and reckless militarism is not optional, it is existential.
The Biafra restoration project must remain rooted in strategic wisdom, not emotion or infiltration. IPOB Brasil’s stance deserves the support of all genuine Biafrans who prioritize the success of the movement over personal allegiances. The future of Biafra depends on it.

Personally, I do not see myself ever disparaging the name of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, irrespective of whatever wrong he may or may not have made. He accomplished something extraordinary that very few, if any, others could have achieved, and I believe that should always be acknowledged and respected.
To add, I believe there is a fundamental disconnect among observers. On one hand, there are those who refuse to believe that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu could have been involved in, or allowed, some of the actions he has been accused of. On the other hand, there are those, spearheaded by by the #IPOB leadership, who have served the movement for many years, have earned a reputation for wisdom and dedication, and may possess information that is not available to the public. Some of these individuals insinuate that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was directly involved in certain decisions or events. This, in my view, is the source of the recent disconnect.
While I do not support the active and prolonged demonization of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s reputation, because I do not believe that serves any constructive purpose, I also do not believe that the position of the @real_IpobDOS Directorate of State should be dismissed outright, given their longstanding service and credibility.
So, what should we do? I believe we must focus on moving forward. By moving forward, I mean holding the existing leadership structure accountable and demanding progressive and measurable results from time to time.
If you are not prepared to engage in practical action toward securing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release, such as a jail break or on-the-ground protests, then you may not honestly claim that you are helping him. Remaining on social media, declaring your loyalty, or upholding him to an almost godlike status does not change his circumstances.
The reality is that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains incarcerated. Expressions of love and loyalty alone will not alter that fact. Therefore, I believe that the only practical option available to us at this moment is to work with and strengthen the structures that currently exist. As things stand, the Directorate of State appears to be the only organized structure with the capacity and potential to advance the cause and pursue the objective of securing his release.
Ultimately, our success will depend on our ability to attract meaningful international attention and support for our cause. History shows us that prolonged political imprisonment is not unprecedented, and emotional attachment alone does not change political realities.
Anyone is free to believe that the Directorate of State betrayed him, wanted him removed, or acted against his interests. People are entitled to their opinions. However, I do not believe that remaining consumed by accusations, bitterness, and emotional reactions will help either Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or the movement itself. The movement will continue to move forward regardless. The question is whether we, as individuals, are prepared to move forward with it in a practical and constructive way.

True! We must however be careful not to fall prey of those who use his good reputation to derail Biafrans off the path. This love and admiration we all share is the exact reason the govt took him, kept him out of direct contact with us and rather choose to pull the string using his influence.
We must be very careful not to assist the govt in scoring own goals while fixing our gaze on one individual.
Wise people understand that structure; systems cannot be imprisoned. This is our argument, and not to deny his marvelous works.
It was your voice that I heard and joined the demand for Biafra freedom.
It is your courage that I saw and got convinced to remain steadfast.
It is ur consistency & sacrifice to Biafra that I’m witnessing that has made me to stand by you.
You’re forever loved Ohamadike ❤️👑
