Here is Grace Randolph back is 2019 saying about another Peter Safran production that the idea behind a small budget DC movie is to make Deadpool money.
Not just aim to break even and cheapen the brand.
@GraceRandolph
@G_O_A_T_Lantern@sylabdul It's a coordinated campaign from the very top.
From "Superman only needs 500m" from WSJ to "Supergirl only needing 315m" from Deadline to this bullshit with Clayface.
Why would Gunn & Safran push for this public misinformation I can understand but why would publications help?
Clayface has yet to open at number 1 in any market so far.
It debuted at 3rd in South Korea.
At 7th in Italy.
And outside the top 5 in France.
The DC brand is dead overseas
It's been 10 years of Hollywood, from the top of execs to your typical snob in the press cycle to shills on forums trying to justify getting rid of Snyder with no "I told you so" they want so much ever coming 😂
The discourse surrounding #Clayface today is absolutely insane. I think one of the reasons Gunn fans are so fucking hostile towards everyone these days is because they spent YEARS making such a huge stink about the SnyderVerse while simultaneously glazing Gunn and the DCU as the second coming of Christ.
Now they've backed themselves into a corner where they have to defend the very thing they spent years insisting was going to be so much better. They've invested so much time and energy into being on the "winning" side that they can't possibly admit when something is mediocre or underwhelming.
It's why we're now seeing an influx of tweets celebrating how CHEAP the last two projects were, as though spending less money somehow makes something good. We've gone from arguing about the actual quality of these movies and shows to celebrating their fucking budgets.
At this point they're just defending their own egos because they've spent years backing a horse they absolutely refuse to admit might not be the winner they thought it was.
And I'm starting to think a lot of these people don't even particularly care about the movies or shows themselves anymore. They care about the Rotten Tomatoes scores, the rankings, the headlines and whatever other metric they can point to as proof that they're on the "winning" team. The actual quality of the projects seems almost secondary to having their years of online tribalism validated.
Which is pretty fucking ironic when you consider how much time they've spent accusing Snyder fans of being a cult.

@Kalle_Sandelin@aziz_zgigi Ronaldo's legs were gone by the time Ten Hag arrived to United. I doubt it has anything with culture or Ronaldo's ego. He just couldn't perform physically anymore
Honestly, I loved @ZackSnyder growing up but have found a new found appreciation today.
His older movies are truly full of creativity, risk and charm. He really taps into some fun creativity we see less of today.
The Watchmen is a damn near perfect movie too (As a big comic fan)
Just checked the local previews for Clayface and the situation, considering this screening is TOMORROW and usually these screenings are almost at capacity for superhero movies and genere movies, is DIRE
Supergirl had twice the screenings and overall 5 times the people 🫠
I'm dying with these slap on the wrist comments for Gunn & Safran like they're good little boys who just had a small misstep and can easily correct and should keep going.
They already did the "We're Super careful about what we make" PR tour.
Pretty obvious that Clayface is gonna be a disappoinment in terms of critical reception and box office as well. James and Peter seriously need to rethink their process and philosophy when hiring directors.
