At the consultative Kampala meeting held in 1963, a decision was made to establish subsidiary Companies, the following subsidiary companies were accordingly established:
1. Ugationers Ltd (1964)
2. Uganda Press Trust Ltd (1965)
3. Uganda Publishing House Ltd (1966)

The meeting embraced the idea and objectives. It however proposed that the body to be formed be called: "Milton Obote Foundation ".(MOF) in recognition of Obote's vision and commitment to the country. Dr. Obote reluctantly accepted the proposal.

In 1962,Uganda attained independence from Britain and Dr.Apollo Milton Obote, the leader of Uganda People's Congress(UPC),Became the Prime Minister.
At that time the country was faced with many challenges,the greatest of which, among others,

he came to conclusion that none of their models was appropriate for tackling the problems of Ignorance, poverty and disease. He thought of forming a body which he suggested could be called 'Uganda Foundation '. He invited individuals known to him to discuss that idea.

Fact: Milton Obote Foundation was incorporated on May 8,1964 as a company limited by guarantee without shares and was based at Amber House plot 29/33 Kampala Road, and Room 307-309.
