Inflation is fine as long as wages keep up. When wages don't keep up, the breaking point comes either when companies start layoffs (which then results in personal bankruptcy) or when still employed people have to declare personal bankruptcy / have their house foreclosed.
AI and the economy: AI will make a few people very wealthy. It will do this by eliminating jobs that were previously done by humans. Like the automobile replaced the horse, it will happen and it will be disruptive. What would you do if your job was replaced by AI?
Broader markets look very toppy right now. I think they will have a big pullback and when they do it'll drag $ORGN lower. That's what I'm waiting for to add. Wish me luck. My account is much depleted.
Is it possible that stock analysts look at charts and when the chart looks like it's at a top or a bottom they then start publishing opinions about why the market is headed lower or higher? Right now stories coming out say the market is headed lower. To me charts look like a top.
The US and Canada face a housing affordability crisis. How can this be fixed? Raising wages - but that leads to inflation and consequently the need to raise interest rates. The other way we could do it is by raising interest rates until the housing market crashes. Who knows?
@unusual_whales offers coming in the mail while I saw my co-workers buying one house after another. It was abnormal. It didn't feel right and I knew it was unsustainable. There was justification: "This time is different." Well, maybe this time actually will be different. Who knows?
@unusual_whales Prices go up on everything and I don't have the money to pay for it so what do I do? Who knows? Sometimes desperation leads to decisions which have very painful long-term consequences. I remember credit getting wild prior to the GFC. It made me nervous seeing all the credit...1/2
@jasmith_yorku@tdsb Noise. That's valid. Recommend asking what dB level is acceptable then find or manufacture purifier that meets that level. Workload. If I was there I would volunteer to turn them on since it's too hard for them. Disinformation. No solution.
@PriapusIQ It would be interesting if what we saw last week (both new jobs up and unemployment up) is a trend that continues. I have my own theories but I would be interested to hear the official explanation.
@phi_ci@US_Stormwatch If it's from heat they call it a siesta. It's not mandatory though. If you're self-employed you can always choose to continue to work through the heat.
@disclosetv I think they're wasting their money but it's their money. They can spend it how they choose. Maybe it'll do some good for the Cuban economy. Who knows?
@Oldboatie In an economy where banks don't lend money everyone must resort to paying full cash price for things like homes, cars, and multi billion dollar electric power plants. It's doable but be a significant change from the way we do things now. 4/4
@Oldboatie are penalized. You put in $100 dollars in your savings and at the end of the year you have $95 for example, even though you didn't spend any of it. Better to put your money under your mattress. If no one puts their money in a bank, then banks can't lend money. 3/
