They seperated themselves from the Creator who walked with Adam in the cool of the day. Nakedness became shame to them and God had to cover them. Soon after one son, Cain became jealous of his brother Able, so Cain committed the first murder and killed his brother. This was all certainly evil. Adam and Eve then found out what this forbidden knowledge provided. Granted to be like God, as the serpent suggested, for them probably was only good things because they only knew the one true God and He was good. They couldn't comprehend the opposite of that, which was evil. But God allowed them the choice as He was not trying to force them to love Him. He certainly wanted that but true love isn't forced. But God knew they would choose to know. That's why His only begotten Son, volunteered to be the perfect sacrifice when the time came. That choice was made before He created humans.
