• Lang'ata, Nairobi Area:
On Wednesday night, Reverend Father Alex Kalemba Mutahingwa,71, a Rwandan National died by suicide at the Seminarians Formation of Apostles of Jesus Seminary.
Preliminary investigation indicated the deceased was found hanging from the door of his room using a nylon rope around his neck.
The motive was revealed in a notebook he left containing handwritten contacts of his immediate family members.
His passport was also recovered from the scene.
The body was subsequently moved to Montezuma Funeral Home pending Autopsy examination.

• CBD, Nairobi Area:
Silvano Mwihia aka 'Ngishi' was arrested at the first floor of Jawabai building along Taveta Road after detectives raided his shop and recovered stolen laptops and computer accessories.

Tabitha Njeri Mwangi was arrested for being part of a phone snatching syndicate within Tel Aviv Estate.
The woman was in company of other 2 women who were posing as genuine customers before snatching their victim's phone & fleeing the scene.

On Wednesday at about 1800Hrs, police received a tip off from members of the public that a Evans Mbanga of Nyakwaka village, Butula Sub-County had prepared a consignment of Bhang for transportation from his homestead.
Upon raiding the homestead, officers recovered 306 large rolls of Marijuana in a white sack, however, the suspect escaped through the back door before he could be arrested.

• Siaya County:
At Pap-Kakan village, Vincent Okoth Okoth, a 11 year old boy Grade 4 pupil at Pap-Kakan Junior School, died on the spot after being electrocuted when a broken electricity pole caused a live power line to fall on him as he collected firewood with his siblings on Wednesday evening.

• Masago, Kisumu County:
A police officer shot & killed an unidentified man who allegedly threatened to attack him using a panga during a routine night patrol at Masango market in Muhoroni Sub-County.
The officer identified himself as a police officer from a distance & ordered the man to stop, surrender and drop the weapon.
The man became more aggressive & advanced towards the officer.
A private security guard manning a nearby club, Honolulu, attempted to intervene but was allegedly struck on the left hand with the panga and retreated.
The man continued advancing & threatening to cut the officer who drew his Jericho pistol and fired one shot at close range fatally killing the man.
CSI personnel from Kisumu documented the scene before the body was moved to Ahero Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy examination.

• Lower Yatta, Kitui County:
On Wednesday at Mingetoni village, body of Matheka Mbaluka, 70, was discovered hanging inside his house on a rope to his neck.
No Suicide note was found at the scene.
Crime Scene procedures were carried out before the body was moved to Kiusyani Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy examination.

Kenyan tea farmers are being punished by bad policy. When taxes make Kenyan tea more expensive than tea from our neighbours at the Mombasa auction, we are taxing ourselves out of the market.
The export levy should be suspended immediately. Government must stop treating farmers as a source of revenue and start treating them as the backbone of our economy. A nation cannot tax production and expect prosperity.

My fellow Gen Zs feel like life can move on just fine without a job. They feel like they have endless options and that makes them quick to leave a job halfway, as if they simply don't care. I honestly fail to understand what goes on in their minds.

I haven't figured out the why. But I've at least learned how to handle them, and the secret is to keep checking up on them.

You can't lead them the old way, assuming they're adults who know what's expected. They're not millenials, they did not suffer. They don't worship the work. And they have options. You have to check in constantly on how they're feeling, what's going on in their life, what they're carrying, how you can help. The goal is to catch the problem before they ever bring it to you, because by the time they reach out, they've already made up their mind. And once it gets that far, the damage usually spills onto the clients.

Some context

What I want to do is bring 20 more devs to Nyamarambe, each earning a minimum of 150k a month. Most of them will come from Nairobi. We're also preparing for the next cohort of students in September. By the end of next year, Reduzer alone is going to pump around Ksh 6 million a month through salaries, and I don't want that money going elsewhere. I want it to circulate in this town.

The biggest issue right now is housing, both residential and commercial. My devs are coming from Nairobi, and they're forced to look for decent houses in Kisii or Rongo. They need a good place to stay, nice hotels, entertainment, a good social life which is not here yet.

So I've started renting individual houses and renovating them. It's a proof of concept. I want to show the landlords here what it means to provide decent living, and show them that people are actually willing to pay for it. It's a long shot, but I'm very hopeful, since this is something Reduzer is genuinely interested in
