First of all, the boys’ image is not controlled by them. That means how they present to the outside world is governed by clauses in their early contracts. They can’t just opt out even though they might wish to. There is significant pressure for them to be seen publicly - hence Harry cycling around on a Lime Bike or walking in the park with the stunt.
They are coerced into believing that a stunt will give them media coverage because the PR managers can then issue info and photos to the Daily Fail etc for print. So they get publicity.
Who the stunt is not their choice. That is arranged by the PR managers between themselves. If a stunt turns out to be problematic, it is extremely unfortunate for them but won’t end the contract. They have to continue with it until the agreed date of termination.
Being disappointed that a forcibly closeted person is closeted is illogical. They are governed by contracts signed in 2010 - things were different in their home country then - yet each new contract has to honour the ongoing clauses of the previous one. These boys are tied up in a web of contracts so it is very difficult for them to be free from reatriction.
Non-compliance would have significant consequences - holding back music releases, for example (as with Liam) or no radio/online publicity (Louis). It could incur penalties as well - financial or actual.
People are beholden to the industry for decades - Brian Harvey (East 17) owes £800K to the industry because of exploitation. East 17 was formed in 1991. Salt-n-Pepa were formed in 1985 and are still in dispute with their label about ownership of their work and early contractual obligations. George Michael tried to sue Sony about his 8-album deal and contractual obligations signed as a teenager and lost. They did. It publicise his work and for 5 years no music of his was put out. He said, “Sony appears to see artists as little more than software.”
When the boys left Syco, Cowell bought out Sony’s share of Syco Music, leaving him with absolute freedom of the TV shows on which he works. For this he agreed to let Sony have the music catalogue of bands like 1D and the others he ran. Syco Music was dissolved once Louis left and absorbed by Sony. So all One Direction’s music and their contractual obligations are now under Sony. This includes their image rights.
Prince tried to gain artistic control and ownership of his masters ending up in a legal battle with Warner Bros. He wrote ‘slave’ on his face during public appearances, letting the public know how he felt tied into contract with them. He even dropped his name, using an unpronounceable symbol instead to try and get out of his contract. He was eventually partly successful.
Michael Jackson tried to sue Sony for ownership and autonomy of his work. He claimed they were racist to him and had deliberately sabotaged promotion. This was when Michael owned 50% of Sony Music Publishing. He felt they were trying to push him out completely.
Brian Harvey is too scared to leave the country, suspecting someone would try to end his life if he did. He sold 30 million records yet still owes £800K.
Salt-n-Pepa have lost their case and are appealing it.
And where are George Michael, Prince and Michael Jackson now? They all died untimely deaths. 👀
It’s worth knowing what these companies can do and have done in the past before arguing that the boys should be able to have control and being angry with them for their actions. I agree that they SHOULD have control - but the simple answer is that they don’t.
Watch Harry’s’Music For A Sushi Restaurant’ video again. Through metaphor, he tells us all about the industry.

Disco ball or light? Ada was up early discussing over Tea and toast! Clara seemed to be gas lighting us with her escapades but we know she’s off to SkegVegas! Harold is influencing Delulu fashion with a hint of Laurence and Vera is taking care of the sunflowers
@DWilson9098561 That takeaway shop has always been like that. Had a low food rating for years. Some people still rate it because of how cheap it is my son being one of them!! A few times my workplace ordered Friday lunches from there I had to drive down to pick up!! 😂
So I saw this earlier on a post. One of Louis team liked it maybe the stylist?!
I found it months ago and did mention I bet Louis wears it during tour whilst the world cups on..
the kit I saw way back was this. 👇

@beebonobo@13leala Just for context it’s AI .. all these crap stories from Facebook are nonsense.
Not saying there’s no truth in what we know but don’t take these FB stories as fact

Morning lovelies
Laurence planned a trip around Delulu, just turned up in the brown suit, no one asked just came dressed this way! Clara is being accused of enhancing pictures to fool People. Islanders are now mixing office with sportswear & we had to turn the yacht crew away!
Laurence and Harold updated their summer wardrobe, then Laurence posed very gaily whilst Harold adjusted his aperture.
Bex, Stacy and I cycled around Princess Park, with bells on our bicycles. It’s Pride Month so we decorated the lounge & started knitting for all at the Weird Old Grannies’ Nursing Home.
Speak soon, friends!
Stay #Delulu and don’t forget to

Anyone who has been showing disrespect to Liam Payne is deserving of criticism of the highest order.
Liam was the kindest of souls who kept our spirits up with his videos during lockdown. He signed and sent out Valentines’ cards to fans when he did not have to. He repeatedly stood outside for hours allowing people to get individual photos with him. He never once complained, said he wasn’t taking any more or sent people away. He hugged fans when they asked and was warm and generous-spirited.
His love and compassion for his supporters belied the hurt and sorrow beneath - he never showed it to fans and made every single person feel special and cared for. He had a rare generosity of spirit. He had the kindest heart.
If despite all that you are now abusing his name and deriding his actions - you are the lowest of the low. I hope that one day you are treated in life as he was treated by you and I hope that after your death your name and reputation are dealt with in a similar manner.
Liam was gay and forcibly closeted. He died never ever being able to live his life openly as a gay man. He was not abusing anyone - in fact, he was the abused party. It was his misfortune to be around psychopathic people who sought only to take advantage of his fame and his money. For that, he lost his life in the worst of circumstances.
Not a day goes by when I do not think of his parents, sisters, partner and the boys, sending up a prayer to the universe for them to have the courage to face another difficult day without him.
Inside of holding wickedness in your heart and being the antithesis of everything that Liam was, you should be listening to those who have been asking questions about his untimely death and pointing out errors and discrepancies in what the public has been told. Be thankful that there are people out there with more intelligence and perception than you have to do the work, ask the questions, prepare the documents, scour the evidence. Liam died under suspicious circumstances and if you are not part of the investigation, then at least do not hinder it.
ALL the boys loved Liam and if you are posting hateful comments, know that your fave has seen them and despises you for it.
Liam was one of life’s truly kind people. He deserved so much better in life and so much better than the treatment you meter out to him now. You have a choice: to stand with the abusers in his life, the exploiters, the scumbag greedy tabloid journalists and those vile enough to make money from him - or you can do the right thing and show compassion towards a man whose only aim was to spread love and kindness through his music and his presence.
We are Great Apes and part of the same tribe - some of you need to remember that we rely on each other. You will need the kindness of strangers - of people like Liam - one day. Do better. Be better.
