What are your opinions on pet and ESA dogs in poker rooms? Apparently it will be discussed at next TDA conference. Some players are severely allergic. Many players are neurodivergent etc and need ESAs. It’s a complicated topic.

(Obviously my and other service dogs are protected. I’m asking about ESA, and separately pets.)

And to @SherryPluskota, I heard your podcast and understand your severe allergy and asthma issues. I think you should be treated the same way visually impaired people are and allowed to be moved.

We don’t bring our dogs to harm others and it is uncomfortable when someone tells me they have an allergy. I usually say, “so do I, plus asthma, which is why I bought a non-shedding breed.” In 99% of cases they have no reaction, so I don’t know if an automatic move is something that should be a Rule for any potential hayfever, but in severe cases absolutely. However because the ADA is designed to allow access for disabled people, I believe legally it is on the person with the allergy to move, not the disabled person with the dog. This includes when the allergy person is already at a table and the disabled person is coming to fill in a seat.

I am the Pokerstars Loose Canon with a service dog and was told you will be discussing dogs.

Many casinos allow pet dogs and that is fine, with one big exception. Please don’t allow dogs that are aggressive to other dogs!!!

Examples: I almost dropped my chips when my table broke and a dog jumped out of its stroller at us. Last week I was told to move out of sight by a lady so her giant “service dog” would not “lunge at me.” I was worried I would be attacked for the rest of the tournament.

Perhaps TDs should also be educated on the ADA rules. An aggressive dog, even if task trained, can be banned. Dogs cannot be disruptive.
