Among the Pokot, elders have traditionally used indigenous knowledge to understand nature and anticipate what lies ahead. One of the practices involved slaughtering a goat and examining its intestines, with elders interpreting what they saw, including signs associated with the coming rains.

What is fascinating is how much confidence the community has placed in this knowledge, and how some of these traditions have been passed down from one generation to another to this day.

Our culture carries a lot of wisdom. We should preserve it, document it, and allow future generations to understand where we came from.
