@Polmo97 We got Spiral around June 2024 and Owl around August 2024 so likely around the same time but Owl maybe started a bit later

I have returned after a long time on this, but I genuinely think Owl is going to be Splat 4 since Spiral is Raiders so yeah, Splat 4 has probably been in development for some time, maybe even alongside Raiders, doubt this is a new Animal Crossing but who knows.

A new EPD5 Project Name has been found.

Spiral -> (Presumed) Splatoon 4
Owl (NEW) -> (No idea but likely Animal Crossing)

Interestingly enough, both of these use the internal "vote" system that Splatoon uses for Splatfests.

It is likely EPD5 has split or is working on both.

@HenryWebber20 Spiral was found via a Nintendo data breach 2 years ago, it was initially reported by "Midori" then the information was passed along to a couple of other dataminers including myself and a few others from the splat community to verify the nature of the leak, same thing with Owl

@dootskyre The whole datamining ordeal is why I decided to let go of Splatoon as a community and only barely interact. Don't get me wrong I love Splatoon but the people in this community are very young and there is a lot that left a sour taste in my mouth from how ppl treat each other.

@dootskyre The Summer 2024 breach contained project names from all large Nintendo development groups and EPD5 only had two titles being worked on. Spiral and Owl.

@dootskyre No, we do not 100% know. However It is almost definitely Spiral as it is an EPD5 game built using the vote feature which is what Splatoon's engine uses. And the game that will come after Spiral from EPD5 will most likely be Owl as well.

@dootskyre This account has no affiliation to any other dataminers, if there is misinterpretation I will gladly clarify but I think my wording was pretty clear here, I never said with the utmost certainty S4 is Owl and is in development. I just threw around guesses based on prior leaks.
