'When a ladies’ loo was finally constructed [in Melbourne] in 1900, furious men aggressively worked to shut it down, saying it would enable women to be outside the home too much. Women, they determined, did not deserve or need their own bathroom facilities.'

I'm adding my two pence to the discussion on the Gender Critical Movement, as others are sharing their views, so why not?
The GC movement isn’t a unified entity.
What is real, however, is that people from diverse backgrounds—different races, religions, classes, ages, political beliefs, and so on—agree on some very basic facts, including but not limited to:
Humans can’t change sex.
Women don’t have penises.
Men can’t get pregnant.
Sterilizing children is wrong.
The notion that we would all agree on every other issue is absurd. Why should we? Why would we?
We don’t need to, because what we collectively believe in isn’t a radical fringe idea; it’s the truth.
Knowing, speaking about, and fighting for the truth isn’t some exclusive members-only club that requires ticking the “right” boxes.
If you think the “GC movement” should work that way, then you’re not serious about ending this ideology and dismantling its impact on the many things it has damaged.
Be grateful that new people are awakening to this nightmare. Here’s a radical idea: why not help educate them?
You don’t have to agree on the causes of climate change to agree that cutting the breasts of confused girls is wrong.
You don’t have to be vegan to agree that putting male rapists in women’s prisons is wrong.
You don’t have to agree on the shape of the Earth to agree that no man has ever given birth.
If you’ve been here for a few years, you know how deep and complex all of this is, but newly "peaked" people won’t. So, why not help guide them?
You might as well, because once people “peak,” it’s a one-way street; they’re not going back. You won’t stop them from speaking up about it either, nor should you.
Everyone needs to know about this; everyone needs to fight it. Protecting women, children, and the truth really is that important.
TDLR:
GC isn’t a thing; people can agree that water is wet and still disagree on whether the dress is blue. More people speaking out is a good thing. Educate them.
