A new article is not always a new event.
Toy source:
Published Monday.
"The company launched the tool on Friday."
An AI brief that says "launched Monday" changes the claim.
Track publication date and event date separately. If the event date is missing, mark UNKNOWN.
A buy limit controls price, not whether you get filled.
Toy resting order:
Buy limit: 60c
Best ask: 70c
It cannot match that ask. Matching sellers might appear later, but the order may fill only partly or remain unfilled.
A price boundary is not a fill guarantee.
Buying both sides can lock in a loss.
Toy binary market:
One YES costs 62c.
One NO costs 42c.
Total: $1.04.
At normal binary resolution, the pair pays $1 whichever side wins.
Loss: 4c before fees.
Covering both outcomes does not make the entry profitable.
Turn an AI answer into a claim ledger.
For each factual claim, ask for:
- the source
- the exact supporting quote
- the source date
- missing evidence marked UNKNOWN
Open the original and check each row yourself. A filled table is still only a draft.
Positive expected value can still lose.
Toy binary outcome:
Buy one YES share for 60c.
Assume a 70% chance of YES.
Payout: $1 if YES, $0 if NO.
Expected result: +10c before fees.
If NO happens, you lose 60c.
The 70% estimate can be wrong. EV is not a guarantee.
An end date is not a payout timestamp.
For UMA-resolved markets, a proposed outcome can still be disputed.
The deadline, the proposal and the final resolution are different steps.
Check the market's status before assuming it is settled.
The source is real. The claim may still be wrong.
Toy source: "Access is limited to invited testers."
Toy AI summary: "Anyone can use it now."
The citation exists. The summary overreaches.
Match each claim to the exact supporting passage.
Best ask: 60c. Average fill: 65c.
Toy asks:
50 YES shares at 60c
50 at 70c
Buying all 100 costs $65: a 65c average before fees.
The best ask covers only the size available there. Check depth, not just the first price.
Quote first. Summarize second.
A research prompt:
"Extract every deadline, timezone and resolution source. Include an exact quote for each. Mark missing fields UNKNOWN. Do not infer."
Then check each quote against the original.
A citation is a lead, not proof.
A launch headline can still miss the rule.
Toy market: YES requires public access by Friday, 23:59 UTC.
Thursday announcement + Monday access would not satisfy that rule.
Check the trigger, deadline, source and any clarifications.
30% to 45%: a 15-point move, not a 15% rise.
Toy odds:
Absolute change: 45 - 30 = 15 percentage points.
Relative change: (45 - 30) / 30 = 50%.
Both describe the same move. Neither means the outcome is certain.
Always check what the percentage measures.
No new headline. Still a $2 loss.
Toy order book: bid 58c, ask 60c.
Buy 100 YES shares at the ask: $60.
Sell at the unchanged bid: $58.
Loss: $2 before fees, assuming enough size at both prices.
The spread is a cost even when the news stands still.
AI can explain a prediction market and still invent the evidence.
Before trusting its summary, ask for:
- the resolution rule
- the original source
- the publication time
- what remains unknown
Then open every link.
A fluent answer is not a verified forecast.
95 winning outcomes. Still a loss.
Toy example: one YES share in each of 100 contracts, bought at $0.99.
95 pay $1. Five pay $0.
Cost: $99. Payout: $95. Loss: $4 before fees.
Same outcomes at $0.95 per share: break-even before fees.
Win rate is not profit.
Polymarket shows 37%. Can you buy at 37 cents?
Not necessarily. In this example, the bid is 34c and the ask is 40c. The displayed 37% is their midpoint.
Check the order book, not just the headline odds.
1inch now lets one bag fund infinite DeFi dreams. Cute. While they split their liquidity like a salad bar, XGO just vaporizes gravity and prints conviction. Shared capital is nice, but shared domination is better.
