DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations Info:
- Cosmic Elemental by Alejandro Mirabal.
- The DLC will reintroduce counters (like the Cacodemon in Eternal could be countered with sticky bombs).
- The Cosmic Elemental and Buzzsaw will have some direct counters.
- Buzzsaw is weak to Impaler headshots,
- Cosmic Elemental have a spear-related counter.
- Archvile summons are vulnerable to the Spear.
- Weapons like the Pulverizer, Accelerator and Shredder will charge automatically while you're in the air using the Spear Grapple.
- Spear grappling hook is called the Meathook
- Back dashing can activate a ricochet Spear attack that deflects hitscan, as seen in the trailer. it gives an automatic falter.
- Performing a well-timed Spear Slash is more difficult than a parry, but it's more rewarding and can stop enemies in their tracks.
- Rabbit Daisy has not been retconned, they are not adapting the Doom novel lore. They've just taken the Flynn Taggart name.
- The Spear comes with new glory kill for Super Heavies.
- They've extended the length of enemy stagger states, so you can pull off more executions in a row.
- You can unlock and defeat an Uber Boss. Which then unlocks Master Arenas. You can then unlock a ton of Ripatorium content after beating the Master Arenas. There's a TON of new Ripatorium encounters and content (Encounter saving, shorter codes, ec.).
- You can customize health pickups and berserk pack respawns in the Ripatorium
Theirs additional content in the DLC like:
- Slayer Trials
- Master Arenas
- Classic Levels
- Rebalanced the Shield to compliment the Spear.
- Heaven Splitter will be balanced more, enemy stun times won't be as overpowered
- The Mace won't be as effective against Super heavies anymore.
- You can still stick to either the Shield or Spear, but it's encouraged to quickswap between them to reach a higher level of play.
- QOL Update alongside the DLC.
- There is an end credit scene at the end of the credits, it's supposedly HUGE
Huge new DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations DLC updates from Hugo this week:
- The DLC will be among the best and most complete Doom experiences they've ever made, and "this is not just for marketing". A true celebration of DOOM ❤️
- The endgame will have a so called "Uber-Boss", called by many testers the best boss they've ever made. This Uber-boss unlocks Master Arenas, and these will unlock great new Ripatorium encounters 🔥
- The endgame content of the DLC will be hard, "black belt content" as described by Hugo
- The credits will have a big scene at the end that we will freak out about, according to Hugo 👀
- The Ripatorium will get some updates that they want to save as a surprise for the community, but there's lots of QoL changes and new options for encounter customization
- Next week they will be able to talk more about the length of the DLC, but they mentioned that it is EASILY double the length of TAG 1
Gameplay:
- The spear will feel underpowered at first, but will get meaningful upgrades as you play
- The Spear will get some glory kills on Super-Heavy demons 🔥
- The Spear Slash parries will be more difficult to pull off than normal parries, but will be more rewarding
- Weapons like the Pulverizer, Accelerator and Shredder will charge while airborne when using the Spear Meathook
Demons:
- The Buzzsaw is in the Heavy demon-class, and a completely original demon
- The name of the Pain Elemental in the DLC is "Cosmic Elemental"
- The Archvile will very much be an elusive demon, in similar ways to the Prowler from Eternal. There's counters to him with the Spear
- The Cosmic Elemental can be countered with the Spear as well
- The Buzzsaw can be countered through precise headshots, as its' head is revealed at all times
Story:
- Daisy is not being retconned 🐰, and they are not adapting the lore from the novels. Only the Flynn Taggart name was made canon.
- The path to the Civil War is not being retconned either, but Hugo did not comment on how much of this part of the story they are showing in the DLC
General game updates:
- They are rebalancing the Heaven Splitter shield rune by reducing the stun time. And the Mace against Super-Heavies has been rebalenced so you can't delete them so quickly. These changes have gotten really nice feedback from playtesters. This will apply for both base game, and DLC
- The stagger state on demons has been extended to allow for even more glory-strike combos
All the concept art shown so far for @DOOM: The Dark Ages - Revelations. July 7th can't come soon enough!

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations Info
- "Revelations is twice the size of TAG 1 with Better Pacing"
- "[The DLC is] twice the size but it’s not “technically” six levels - you’ll see"
- "The HUB is huge"
- "Backtracking isn't just "replaying thru this same level in the same order. Its a new Path"
- HEAVEN SPLITTER rebalance incoming: rebalance Stun time
- "Dark Ages is a new game (way different than 2016 and eternal) the DLC is kinda what eternal was for 2016. Dark ages is the Base, Revelations builds on top"
- The Player is still a tank but with a jet engine strapped to your back
- The new ai in the DLC are tuned for the spear. And the lack of quick switching keeps it balanced (Quick swapping is between the Shield and Spear ONLY)
- By the time you unlock the Spears potential via upgrades - ai frequency gets pretty high
- "Mobility fits like a glove. The dash isn’t as long distance wise as it was in eternal, so while you have more movement tech it’s not the same as eternal.
- The fully upgraded "Meathook" mechanics are strong"
