good news๏ผ i love you anyway. all the mess and fuss of you. all the stray hairs and uneven smiles. i love your laugh and your sigh and the way you sing along with the music. it's all lovable. it feels so good to love you.
@0ut0fT0uch โMy dislike of the cup pies are besides the point.โ They werenโt real piesโ logistically they were, but fundamentally, it wasnโt the same.
โTodayโsโฆ a special day and I-Iโฆ you shouldnโt be working in the kitchen on it.โ
โDo you consider yourself lucky?โ A faint, small almost shy like grin crossed his face.
Like he was being so crafty about tripping Chuck up like that.
"Do I?"
Melting like the chocolate in the sauce pan a few feet away when he looks at her that way.
She actually forgot what the question was about.
"Do I what?"
"But-"
Instinct has her reaching to touch his arm but her hands fall back with some reluctance.
"You might not be everyone's cup of tea but I'd bet good money that most anyone would consider themselves lucky to be the object of your affection."
โIโm not reallyโฆ Everyoneโs cup- that isโฆ it takes a special someone to understand me and myโฆ quirks.โ Dare he not look at her just yet.
โYou- you were that person that understood me the best.โ
"Ned... seriously? You've only ever loved one person? Just one? You, the sweetest and kindest soul around, have kept yourself away from the world that deserved to feel love the way that you give it?"
โThereโsโฆ thereโs only really been one person.โ The pie maker quickly ducked his head away in an attempt to mask away the flush of crimson that started to take up a spot on his cheeks.
โYou can imagine who thatโฆ was.โ
"Hmmm."
Cue the impossibly big Chuck child-like grin.
"It's a sweet thought to be someone's first..."
"To be the one that made someone else believe in something so special and amazing as love..."
"How many people have you loved?"
โI added cinnamon to the dough to spice it up.โ He beamed, preening that such a small change seemingly was noticed by the patrons.
โSimple is always best.โ
She's stopping to talk to a customer then collect their empty dessert plate and coffee cup.
On her way back to the kitchen, she catches a glance of Ned.
"Hey, that rhubarb pie is a huge hit today! I'm not sure what you did different but make sure you do it again."
โSugar and spice? Thats thanks to the pies from today.โ Spiced apple was on the menu for the next days bake.
โBut if you like the smell . . . I can make it a more consistent thing.โ
"I can't really go anywhere else."
Looking at his lips then back up to his eyes.
"I also wouldn't want to. I like being with you. You smell nice. Like sugar and spice."
โY-you know thatโs perfectly fine.โ He stammered with a grin peeking out along the edge of his lips.
โSo long as I know youโll come back to me, I donโt mind.โ
"Sorry I was away for Valentine's Day. My aunts really needed my help with arranging their books."
Smiling sweetly with hands drawing back towards her body.
