Good luck to Scotland Transplant Football at the Four Nations tournament in Dingwall.

We are proud to see Scotland Transplant Football not only hosting this important tournament in Scotland, but also honouring donors and raising awareness about the importance of organ and transplant donation.

I would also like to highlight Jelina Berlow-Rahman, who became the first female to play for Scotland Transplant Football at the Euros in Oxford last year. Despite her decline in health, she continues to be part of the team, showing remarkable strength and dedication.

Sport keeps us mentally and physically healthy, something I supported long before entering politics and will continue to champion in the future.

Really good to see community organisations continuing to deliver such meaningful and engaging events for our communities.

I was delighted to attend “Climate Conversations: Through Our Family Lens” organised by Networking Key Services. It was an excellent production that creatively highlighted climate awareness and responsible waste management through the everyday experiences of a South Asian family.

The performances were outstanding and the event successfully combined humour, emotion and education to encourage people of all ages to think about how small changes at home can make a big difference for our planet.

A huge thank you to the NKS team for the invitation and for all the hard work that went into organising such an important and inspiring event.

Today, 8th April 2026, marks my final day serving as a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Lothian Region.

It has truly been an honour and a privilege to serve. Over the past five years, I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. I have always taken my responsibility as a public servant with the utmost seriousness, and I hope I have been able to make a positive difference in the lives of my constituents and across Scotland.

As I turn to a new chapter in my life, I would like to sincerely thank my constituents and the many organisations across the Lothian region for your continued support. Representing you has been a true privilege.

My sincere gratitude goes to my dedicated team, who have worked tirelessly to support thousands of constituents, and to the many organisations, charities, and community groups I have had the privilege to work alongside. Your contributions are invaluable.

Most importantly, I want to thank my family. Your unwavering support, love, patience, and belief in me have been my strength throughout this journey.

As I step into the next chapter, I look forward to new opportunities and reconnecting with life beyond Holyrood. I remain optimistic and excited about what lies ahead for Scotland and its Parliament.

Once again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your MSP.

As part of the Social Justice and Housing Portfolio, I also asked the Scottish Government what steps it is taking to tackle child poverty. A strong plan must be in place to meet the 10% child poverty target by 2031.

Today marked my final question of the term at the Scottish Parliament.

With the City of Edinburgh Council housing 42% of Scotland’s children in temporary accommodation in 2025, and rough sleeping having doubled over the past three years- I asked the Scottish Government what urgent action is being taken to eradicate child homelessness and tackle poverty, both in Lothian and across the country.

I was delighted to speak with the team of @OptomScotland at their exhibition on the Scottish Parliament.

Around 1 in 30 people in Scotland are living with significant sight loss, and over half of these cases are preventable or treatable.

With the right investment, we have a real opportunity to do things differently. A national community-based low vision service could transform lives — helping people maintain their independence, improving day-to-day quality of life, and reducing pressure on hospital eye services.

Right now, more than 1 in 5 children in Scotland are still living in poverty, a reality that cannot be ignored.

We spoke about the experiences of young carers across Scotland and the importance of ensuring they are recognised and supported to reach their potential.

Today at the Members’ Business debate on Sport and Activity as a Force for Good, I spoke about the vital role that sport has played in my own life and the positive impact it continues to have on individuals and communities across Scotland.

I also raised concerns about rising costs, unequal access, and the loss of local facilities, which are preventing many children from participating. I firmly believe that sport is not a luxury, but a necessity for building a healthier, more connected, and resilient Scotland.
