While responding to a fire earlier today in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, IAFF members were ambushed in a heinous act of violence. Two of our brothers were killed by a sniper, and a third brother remains in surgery.
Please keep them, their families, and law enforcement in your prayers.
Funeral service information will be provided as it becomes available. The Dranbauer family is eternally grateful for all prayers and offers of support during this immensely difficult time.
📣Statement from the Dranbauer Family🚨
On Monday May 12, 2025, 44-year-old Lieutenant Mark Dranbauer Jr., a 23-year veteran of the Baltimore City Fire Department, suffered a medical emergency while serving the people of Baltimore City.
Mark was beyond loved and is also survived by countless cousins, relatives, and, of course, his brothers and sisters of the Baltimore City Fire Department.
🗳️MARYLAND FIRE FIGHTERS & FRIENDS – WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🪧

🧵 1/3
But despite having broad, bipartisan support and having no budgetary cost to the State, the bill has stalled in the State Senate. With the legislative session ending IN 1️⃣0️⃣ DAYS , we need your help to get this bill to the Governor’s desk! 2/3
HB205 - Employment Standards for Firefighters, adopting a 42 hour work week, passes the Maryland House of Delegates! Thank you to the 134 Delegates who heard us loud and clear! On to the Senate! #UnionStrong#FullyInvolved@officers964@IAFFofficial
The UFOA along with our partners in the UFA went to Washington DC for the IAFF Legislative Conference. We again spoke to our representatives pressing the message that the World Trade Center Health Plan must be fully funded, giving the care our sick and dying members deserve. We are here to fight for our 9/11 first responders and survivors. The bipartisan 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding Correction Act will ensure they never have to worry about accessing the health care they deserve. It is urgent that this bill be passed to ensure no reduction of benefits.
NEVER FORGET.
