Thank you Baltimore! Yesterday was one of the most special and memorable days of my life, and that’s all because of you! We celebrated my swearing-in as your next State’s Attorney in style, now it’s time to get to work Building Bridges for a Better Baltimore! #WeOurBaltimore
June is Gun Violence Awareness Month. Every life lost to gun violence leaves a lasting impact on families, neighborhoods, and our entire community. Throughout this month, we honor the victims and survivors of gun violence while reaffirming our work of accountability & justice.
Focused deterrence + a prosecutor providing accountability… “Collaboration,” per @ivanjbates.
(And of course other truly public health measures may be unsung contributors, too: https://t.co/V5oHSh1knv)
This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. We are grateful for their courage, dedication, and enduring legacy. We also recognize the families who carry their memory forward.
Conviction Alert: Defendant Kimberly Hamilton was convicted of Felony Theft after stealing $275,000 from her employer, Copper Kitchen, from 2021 to 2023. Sentencing is scheduled for August 4, 2026. https://t.co/xSyTeR3IYV
The Primary Elections are five weeks away from today Baltimore, and I’m asking for your support once again as I seek re-election as your State’s Attorney.
Four years ago I crisscrossed the city promising to hold repeat, violent offenders accountable, rebuilding a depleted prosecutors office, ensuring that our older adults were protected and being a vocal advocate for victims of crime.
Four years later I’ve held true to my word, as we have witnessed historic reductions in homicides and violent crime, a Citation Docket created to tackle quality of life crime, a newly formed Older Adult and Disabled Persons unit within the SAO, an expanded victims and witness division and thousands of repeat, violent offenders doing time who thought it was a game when I told them to “Bring their Toothbrush”. #PromisesMadeCommitmentsKept #BuildingBridgesForASaferBaltimore #BatesForBaltimore
Heartbroken to hear of the passing of a true friend and Day One supporter. @NGUYNES was a shining light to those who endured pain and suffering through the prism of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. @HerResiliency was an organization founded by Natasha that she poured her heart and soul into, which sought to help victims of crime, many of whom didn’t realize they were victims until Natasha and her colleagues were able to help them get out of “the life”. She was an amazing advocate whose life shall be remembered and whose presence will be missed.
I always have an amazing time knocking on doors and speaking with voters during campaign season. Yesterday, my baby girl London joined me as I visited the Berea community with my dear friend @DelegateAddison asking for their support in the upcoming primary elections.
I hope you join me in supporting this 45th district champion, who is without a doubt one of the most passionate lawmakers fighting for us down in Annapolis #PromisesMadeCommitmentsKept
Sentencing Alert: Norman Waker was sentenced to 60 years, suspending all but 25 years, with the first 10 years ineligible for parole, for fatally shooting 79-year-old Clyde Barnes and striking another resident in February of 2025. Read more at: https://t.co/XkP62lh21o
What an amazing day in Annapolis! Blessed to join my guy @KevinLiles1 and the #FreeOurArt coalition for the historic bill signing of SB475 - a bill I was honored to support as our great state leads the way in helping to ensure we no longer allow prosecutors to unjustly use rap lyrics to put young black and brown artists behind bars for crimes they didn’t commit.
Huge shoutout to Delegate @marlonamprey who has championed this legislation for years and whose continuous advocacy and fearless leadership helped shepherd this bill to the desk of Governor Moore for his signature. Maryland is only the beginning of this movement, but we are proud to lead the nation on this important issue! Join the movement @FreeOurArtHQ #ProtectingArtistsCreativeExpression
After losing my mother five years ago, Mother’s Day has always been a day of reflection and a bit of pain. It’s also a day of celebrating the remarkable women in my life who continue to show up and demonstrate how amazing they are as mothers and friends.
From London’s mother Lana to my beautiful wife Dani and her amazing daughter, I’m blessed to be surrounded by such strong women who continue to remind of the remarkable qualities of my late mom - Cleora Jean Bates #MothersDayMemories
Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, and mother figures whose strength, wisdom, compassion, and guidance help shape our families and communities every day. Thank you for the countless ways you inspire, support, and lead with love. Happy Mother’s Day!
It’s always a great day when I get an opportunity to support our first responders. Much respect to President Matthew Coster and the brave men and women of the Local 734 chapter of the International Association of Firefighters and Paramedics - who continue to selflessly put their lives on the line, taking the calls nobody wants to make or answer, in order to save the lives of those in need.
Compassion can make all the difference during someone’s hardest moments. Today, hear from Nikki, one of our Victim Witness Coordinators, about how her own experience as a survivor shapes the support she provides to victims and witnesses. #NCVRW2026
