EDUCATION CS Prof. George Magoha has today launched the reengineered National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) at Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). The system provides accurate data and become more attuned to Ministry of Education end users.
Prof. George Magoha, Education Cabinet Secretary today 22nd August 2022, launched the Re-Engineered National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) at @KICDKenya
The CS was flanked by the two Principal Secretaries in the Ministry of Education; Dr. Julius Jwan and Prof. Fatuma Chege of the State Departments for Early Learning and Basic Education, and Curriculum Reforms Implementation respectively.
NEMIS has provided for the role of parents where among other things, they can monitor the performances of their children, apply for bursaries and scholarships as well as initiate the transfer of learners from one institution to the other with the help of headteachers
Prof. Magoha assured parents of the safety of their children's data under the system. “No one will interfere with the figures fed into the system. These are the lives of our children and we must safeguard them properly,” said Prof. Magoha.
PS State Department for Early Learning and Basic Education Dr. Jwan said a lot of work has gone into the remodelling of the new system in addressing the challenges that were there before for effective service delivery.
The new system will enhance transparency, accountability, and equity. Learners will be able to get financial assistance through bursaries and scholarships. The system will be all-inclusive, as it will employ Affirmative Action in the admission of learners for quality education.
