This is so true. I actually experienced this recently with an inDrive driver.

At first, he didn’t want to take my ride because his CNG had finished and he was about to switch back to PMS. But because my destination wasn’t far, he decided to take the trip anyway.

And he kept talking about how much CNG has saved him on fuel costs since he switched.

The more drivers share these experiences, the more people realise that CNG is already becoming part of everyday transportation in Nigeria.

MYTH: “AC gas is just normal gas used to make the AC cold.”

FACT: Air conditioners use refrigerants that absorb and release heat as part of the cooling cycle.

Different systems can use different refrigerants, and they aren’t something you should casually release, handle or refill without the right knowledge and equipment.

That AC in your room has some serious science happening inside it. We would talk about that soon

MYTH: “Put ice on the cylinder before refilling. It makes refilling safer.”

FACT: Cooling the cylinder can temporarily reduce LPG vapour pressure. So yes, there is some science behind the practice.

But that does NOT make ice a safety measure or a proper refilling technique.

And constantly leaving a steel cylinder wet or exposed to moisture can contribute to external rust and corrosion over time.

So please, no need to give your cylinder an ice bath before refilling. 😂

Proper filling procedures + a cylinder in good condition = the real safety measure.

The logic is probably temperature-related.

When LPG is inside a cylinder, its pressure is affected by temperature. Cooling the cylinder can temporarily lower the vapour pressure, which may make people think it helps with the refilling process.

But please don’t turn ice blocks into a refill technique. 😂

The cylinder should be filled using the proper equipment and procedures at a compliant filling facility.

Gas safety is one area where “I saw someone do it” isn’t a good reason to copy the method.

On an LPG cylinder, WC means Water Capacity.

It refers to the amount of water the cylinder can hold when filled to its specified capacity.

Why does that matter?

TW = Tare Weight.
