And before anyone says anything, no, not all male vtuber fans are like this. There are plenty of cool male vtuber fans that're more than happy to see the female creators they support go mainstream and have further success.

There's a loud male faction within the Vtuber community that would rather female creators in it go broke or never grow beyond what they are now than become more mainstream in order to have a sense of control over them.

While the creator side of vtubing is very female dominated, the consumption of vtubing has a large male population as well. Thus this dynamic of male fans wanting female creators to merely appease them and only them. Even if it hurts the creator's career in the long term.
