My heart goes out to the victims of the Oluku Market fire, especially the families who have lost loved ones and the traders whose livelihoods have been reduced to ashes.
I visited the market and victims receiving treatment at UBTH, and I share in the pain of everyone affected by this tragedy.
To our traders, please be assured that you are not alone. My government will support efforts to rebuild the market and help affected traders get back on their feet.
I urge everyone to take safety warnings seriously, especially during fuel-related emergencies. No material possession is worth a human life.
May God comfort the bereaved, heal the injured, and strengthen every family affected by this painful incident.

Today, I witnessed a powerful declaration of peace as young people across Edo State publicly renounced cultism and chose a new path of hope, unity and a better future.
I commend these young men for their courage in turning away from violence. Your decision is a victory for your families, our communities and the future of Edo State.
We are all brothers, and no cult group is worth killing your brother over. We must choose life, peace and progress over violence and bloodshed.
My message to those still in hiding is clear: come out, renounce cultism and embrace a new beginning while you still have the opportunity. Our doors remain open to genuine rehabilitation, but anyone who chooses to continue on the path of criminality will face the full wrath of the law.
We are determined to build an Edo State where our young people become agents of development, not instruments of destruction.
Let us renounce violence, embrace peace and build a New Edo together!

Today, I worshipped at Family Intercessory Ministries (FIM) International Inc. - Benin City, for its 2026 Harvest celebration and later visited Christian Brethren Ministries (CBM) to celebrate the 65th birthday of its General Overseer, Pastor Obby Okeke.
During the visits, the clerics commended our administration’s efforts in tackling insecurity across Edo State.
I reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening security architecture through additional operational vehicles, motorcycles, and specially trained security personnel. I also assured Edo people that road construction and rehabilitation, particularly in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), will commence in full swing after the rainy season, alongside improvements to drainage systems.
Our commitment remains clear: to build a safer Edo State with better roads and improved living conditions for all.
May Edo Succeed
May God Bless Edo State.

May God grant his family the strength to bear this painful loss and grant the soul of Chief Daniel Osikheme Orbih eternal rest.
May his life and legacy continue to inspire us to serve humanity with purpose and compassion.

Today, I received the remains of Chief Dan Orbih at the Benin Airport and later joined his family, friends, political associates and well-wishers at his residence for the lying-in-state ceremony.
The passing of Chief Orbih is a great loss to Edo State. Beyond politics, he was a brother and a man whose contributions to the political development of our state will be remembered. His courage, convictions and commitment to his beliefs earned him a place in Edo’s political history.
At a time like this, words can hardly express the pain of losing someone so dear. We can only turn to God for comfort, strength and the grace to bear this painful loss.
My heartfelt condolences go to his immediate family, loved ones and all those whose lives he touched. I pray that Almighty God grants them the fortitude to navigate this difficult period and grants the soul of Chief Dan Orbih eternal rest.
May his soul rest in peace.
