For me, ambition is not the problem here.

Every coach wants the biggest job possible. Manchester City is the kind of club most managers would listen to, especially with the stability, financial backing, quality of players, and the chance to succeed Pep Guardiola.

The issue is the timing, the commitment, and the damage left behind.

Chelsea brought him in, backed him, and expected him to lead a long-term project. And to be fair, had Chelsea not taken him from a Championship club and given him that platform, I am not sure Manchester City would have considered him this quickly.

So from the outside, it feels like Chelsea became the stepping stone for a bigger opportunity, while the club and fans were left to deal with the consequences.

He might have had his reasons, but professionalism matters. The least he should have done was stay focused, finish the season, and then make the move properly.

Other managers have faced interest from bigger clubs and still handled it with more respect for the club they were employed by.

Now the hope is that Xabi Alonso gives Chelsea what the club has been crying out for: direction, commitment, and stability.
